VideoSift is 10
They said we wouldn't make it ... OK, no one really said we wouldn't make it (except maybe me a few times) ... but we made it!
This is our 10th Siftiversary. I'm still having trouble digesting what that means. VideoSift has been such a major part of my life for the past 10 years that it's hard for me to imagine that there was a Pre-VS time. Not only has VideoSift given me an outlet for my own ideas, it's taught me how a community works and what it means to work in a team - a big team spread around the Earth.
We've had a few existential crises through the years, most of them I've told you about - maybe a few I haven't - but we're still here. Will we be here ten years from now? I think so! In fact, I'm so confident that I've commissioned another 10 years of badges from our favourite illustrator Chris Murphy. Maybe ten years from now we'll be accessing VideoSift through our holographic injection helmets - but I vow that we're not going away.
I want to say thank you to the Sifters who keep this place afloat. I know that it's a labour of love for some of you - and that you spend more time here than I do keeping the place in order. Thanks for all the hard work.
Thanks also to my partner Lucky, without him, VideoSift would not be the best community-based website on the Web.
I still think that real communities can't be manufactured and culture is a "patina" that happens over time. We've got beautiful cracks.

We wanted to do something different for our 10-year mark so Lucky and I got together and had a chat about VideoSift. We're calling it the VideoSift Podcast, which means we might do more - maybe fortnightly. It's a little rough, (we won't quit our day jobs) but it was great to chat - believe it or not Lucky and I haven't voice chatted frequently over the years.
We've submitted it to iTunes, but because it's a new podcast it might not be available through your preferred podcast app yet- but here's the MP3 file.

Congratulations all!
Outstanding!
Thank you,...and everybody.
Hard to believe I've been hanging around here in one form or another for almost 8½ years now.
Even though there have been a few changes and upheavals, the core of the site has remained constant, which I think is a remarkable achievement in itself.
The amount of just time that has past amazes me. And the changes both in this site, our community, YouTube, and the YT community in that time frame doubly so.
A decade. Wow. On to 20!

I have been a member since March 2, 2006 according to my profile. I am still addicted to VS. Thanks Dag and Lucky760.
Woo! *fireworks!* *sparkles!*
Adding post to channels (Fire) - requested by RedSky.
I just happened to be thinking about the sites history yesterday, and it occurred to me that there's definitely an interesting book in here somewhere. At the very least a TED talk (@dag).
Congrats on 10 years. I had my doubts
Podcast is a great idea. Id love to see them on a normal basis. *quality
Awarding dag with one star point for this contribution to VideoSift - declared quality by eric3579.
I've been here since aaaaaaalmost the beginning, with much timid lurking at the beginning.
This is still the only public site I go to.
Patina, indeed.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY
Wow... I joined in like, July of 2006 (according to my profile, OMFG, it's been THAT long???) and I have to say I never really knew you guys were only around for a few months before that. You had a really professional setup right from the start. Kudos and congratulations!
Videosift rulez!
This calls for a laurel, and hearty handshake.
What a wonderful community! congrats on 10!!
Wow, hard to believe it's been 10 years, congrats! I'm not as active as I once was, but VideoSift still holds a special place in my heart. Lots of great memories over the years and I look forward to the next 10.
We rock.
Happy Siftversary!![](https://videosift.com/vs5/emoticon/monocle_smile.gif)
Woohoo! Double digits!
happy siftiversery!
Your world?![](https://videosift.com/vs5/emoticon/wink.gif)

we're a weird anomaly, even by internet standards
Thanks, Dag and Lucky!
Cheers! To the next 10 years.
oh, and the comments on Dag's least favourite video are internet gold!
Congrats!
Y'all gonna start makin me feel old or sumthin.
Felicitations!
Cheers for keeping it all going. I post few comments and fewer videos, but I visit pretty much daily, and this is pretty much the only place online I interact any more. That's down to the quality of the site, and of the community.
Muchos grassy arse, and happy birthday.
Ha. No one @-mentioned me so I didn't have any idea this was posted.![](https://videosift.com/vs5/emoticon/tonguewink.gif)
It has been an incredible 10 years and I'm very happy and lucky to have had dag as a partner in sift for all these years. It's a pleasure.
On top of that, all you fine folks and those who are long gone have made this an incredible little corner of the Web for a major chunk of my life. I love you.
P.S. I couldn't believe it took so long to occur to me, but my least favorite sift is definitely this one:
Michael Bay's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Trailer
Congratulations, all of VideoSift! And thanks to @dag and @lucky760 for keeping this here thing going for such a long time. Here's to 20!
Far out.
Wow. We downvoted that into oblivion. Tied for #25 most comments on video of all time.
my least favorite sift is definitely this one:
Michael Bay's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Trailer
Amazing, congrats to everyone involved and to all the sifters. It still feels like yesterday I found this place. Great job to everyone involved, here's to another 10 years. =)
See, VS is making me stay up after 2 AM PST.![](https://videosift.com/vs5/emoticon/tongue.gif)
Holy Crapoleum ... at just 3+ years I'm feeling a tad bit noobster-ish after perusing the comments from above thus far!
Online since 1996, I'd had little of the 'social' aspect of the interwebs prior to learning about VideoSift. Most of the actively social interaction was on YT where we'd cultivated a tight knit [world wide] cat community [surprise!] that really felt like a family. There are still a few of us hanging in there but, as YT changed [heavy sigh], the thrill was gone [r.i.p. former yt AND bb king].
Yeah, some of you know it was a struggle here for me at first, but the charm and allure of something truly special ... and at precisely at the right time ... kept me motivated to carve a place here. [Lucky YOU!]. I've honestly been impressed [and dismayed but secretly amused] with the quality and diversity of those who've participated in the last 10 years of obvious success sooo ... Congratulations are due @dag and @lucky760. As I've always said, wish I'd known about you sooner. And I do so appreciate you having me.
In conclusion Sifters, you're my kind of people ... and I "know" people as, in my mind, I'm quite discerning [except perhaps when it comes to some videos submitted for your consideration ... ummm, how do you like me so far?] And I sincerely appreciate [Eric] so many of you for exposing me to an array of great sites/sights that I surely would never have encountered. You've broadened my horizons beyond words ... which reminds me ... time for my 'medibles'!
Love you all ... whether you like it or not ... you're stuck with me.

Wait...there's going to be free food?!? I'm in!
A special mention goes to Blue's News for turning me on to Videosift in the first place. Like many, I lurked here a while before starting an account, and then went even longer without contributing much. The last few years, this site has been my main outlet for being social (pretty sad, huh?) and I've enjoyed many a wasted evening perusing the comments ranging from hilarious to outrageous, but always a good time.
Thanks to @dag and @lucky760 for keeping it going. It's quite an accomplishment, keeping our rag tag group of misfits in line and out of serious trouble. You two are a great pair of internet dads, we couldn't ask for better.
Also a special mention for uncle @eric3579 , who's turned me on to many a great video, and been there as a friend or just friendly ear when I needed one more times than I can count, and been there to tell me when I'm going overboard or being too harsh, like a real friend does. He's also done quite a lot to make this site feel like a second home to me.

We'll email you your piece of pizza.
Don't want it to get all moldy or dried out.

You can blame me for that since I sent links to Blue. Haha. I social a lot online due to my disabilities so thanks God for the Internet (used to be BBSes too before Internet went big).
