Farhad2000 is now Farhad1000: All hail the King!

I am pleased as punch to report that I cast the tenth vote on Farhad’s last sifted submission, thus making him the very FIRST sifter to get 1000 STARS! Yeah, you better believe it baby. That crazy Uzbek has earned one thousand stars, which is nothing less than phenomenal. Check out his new bling: A gold bronze crown! How cool is that!?

To boot, he just recently passed mlx and is now the third highest-ranked member here. Still not impressed? Well then go to his profile page and learn what he’s about: The obscure. Check out his videos, and you’ll see that Farhad got to where he is the hard way, i.e., by posting obscure videos, which by their nature will generally have a limited appeal. Regardless of any video’s marketability he posted them anyway, because he has an eye for quality.

What do I like most about his videos? First I must say that I consider him to be a member of the Sift’s Holy Trinity of awesome eclectic music. (JAPR and Eklek are the other two members.) Now don’t get me wrong; I have found tons of great music from many, many members, but it seems that Farhad, along with JAPR and Eklek, have delighted me most with musical selections that I know I otherwise would never have heard had it not been for them. But that’s not all:

- He’s a cinephile extraordinaire, knowledgeable of films from around the world.
- He studies politics, and is more knowledgeable of American politics than most people I know (which are virtually all Americans, mind you).
- He knows about military history and hardware, better than 99% of the general public.
- He’s a thoughtful and incisive commenter, having earned 23 stars for applauded comments.

I could go on, but now I believe it’s time for us to applaud this sifting stalwart. Give it up for Farhad, the T1000 of VideoSift. (Oh yeah, he’s also made of liquid metal, and can kill you with stabby appendages.)

I've tossed quite a few music videos from bands I love into Farhad's Obscure channel, and occasionally take a glance through it. The videos there don't always look to be the most appealing at first due to being so unfamiliar in content or style, but there's a ridiculous amount of, well, obscure gems in there. I can't think of a better way to congratulate you than Kronos has already done, so I'll just add a hearty agreement to that. Way to go, Farhad.

well done Farhad! well done, I spoke with Dag about this not that long ago and my idea for 1000 would be a large number of Promote Points deposited into your account...the King will own the sift....(until the points run out of course)

Farhad, you are thoughtful, intelligent, upstanding, well read and you can be quite endearing too because I think you're a hopeless romantic. Your curiosity for just about EVERYTHING shows in the variety of content you've brought to the site. You're definitely a "big picture" person. You're an old soul.

Pardon the aunty swampy tone here, but wow... In the last couple of years, I've watched you grow from a nice "college kid" into one hell of an impressive young man. I'm glad to know you Farhad.

A long time coming, but it has finally happened! Be it taste in music, film or sentiment - I cannot think of anyone I identify with more here on the sift and certainly none other more deserving of the crown - congratulations, indeed! Now I feel even more comfortable saying: Farhad - you RULE

Incidentally, what is this new power of yours, may we ask? An inexhaustible supply of Power Points? Tripled number of queue slots? The ability to edit others' comments? IDDQD?

I remember how in my early lurking/sifting days I kept finding all these wonderful eclectic videos you posted (and this co-inspired me to post on VideoSift and sift what I like) and I still have to see quite a few of them. I already know I could almost instantly upvote your whole catalogue:) (but I stick to the VS-principle of first having to see the video before upvoting: this also leaves me some treasure left to explore on an almost daily basis..)
So keep expanding your catalogue: feed the obscure, to complement the more common, your voice is heard and will be heard (even though the sift's growing).

I remember the days when I thought reaching 100 stars seemed impossible, but now you've gone and thrown everyone a bone by demonstrating 1000 stars can be achieved.

It's an unbelievable accomplishment and extremely well deserved. I know you comment frequently lately about how much the Sift has changed (for the worse), but I hope you hang around to tell us all what 2000 stars feels like.
