The Greatest Best Wedding Proposal of All Time Ever Forever

Awesome.

"In August 2010, I met my girlfriend (of about 2 months at the time) at the Paris Airport and knew the moment she got off the plane, I wanted to marry her. Over the next 9 months, I filmed us, a bit at a time, and made it into a little movie. In May 2011, I played it for her on the terrace of the Bowery Hotel in New York City, with the Empire State Building as our backdrop...and asked her to marry me..."

Yeah, I'm kinda siding with dag on this... although also, I think it's not even so much it being 'sweet', but rather I'm getting sick of all of these 'look at us' videos of proposals. Why can't you do an awesome proposal to your woman without having to have your 'awesomeness' confirmed to you by thousands of strangers? Why can't you do a wonderful thing for her and then... oh, I dunno... NOT share it on the internet?

For all those that have done things like that, and kept it to themselves, bravo.

I liked the way I proposed to my wife, but I'm not going to detail it here, and I didn't have a group of people filming it, all in the hope that people say what a wonderful bloody guy I am.

Grump grump grump.

So... where's a cute kitten video?

Hey at least it's not as bad as that ridiculous movie theatre proposal. There's something just so... tacky .. about a public wedding proposal. It should be a private moment between a couple, not an attention-seeking, aren't-we-the-cutest exercise. That's what a wedding is

I dunno, her reaction when she see's the ring is what hits me, pure joy.

After going through a day of hearing non stop negativity about how everything is crap, it's nice to see something which claws us back in the other direction.

I know someone who's jealous...

I mean I guess its kinda touching and all. But I get a kind of creepy voyerism feeling from this guy's intention to film it all down, as in he wants people to have an insight into his private/intimate moments. I think these kind of moments are best kept personal, even though it might garnish a load of internet hits, the whole production effort could of been put into something else.

Also the old people thing was creepy too, I know people think growing old together is sweet and romantic, but I'd rather top myself in some overly dramatic explosion, or hilltop barbarian battle than become that old. Thankfully the current generation has a good chance of being able to have old age reversed/halted in the not so distant future.

God, I really wanted to like this. I'm a romantic as much, if not more, than the next guy, but all I could think of as this went by was: wow, it must be great to have a production company and shittons of money to travel all over the world and buy shit.

I'm not questioning their love or the sincerity of this, but it was just way too much to seem really sincere. Then again, I don't know these people, maybe it would ring truer if it didn't seem like a commercial trying to sell me vacations or wedding rings.

Hmmm. Kinda a long climb for a really short slide.

I kept waiting for something even somewhat surprising or unexpected or, frankly, creative. For naught.

Let the hatefest commence...

I couldn't finish.... it was too long and filled with trite every day moments to get passed the halfway mark. Sure she loved it, but I don't see why it has to be on the Internet for EVERYONE.
