Dayton, Tennessee - Clip from the BBC1 documentary 'Science Friction: Creation' circa 1996. Teaching science is like fighting an uphill battle when both kids and teachers share irrational beliefs coming into the classroom. It's disheartening, for me, that we are even still having this discussion.

Dogs, Wolves, Foxes, Coyotes from reproducing?

This guy is full of shit.

Wolf Hybrid, boom in your face fucktard.

A wolf-dog hybrid (also called a wolf hybrid or wolfdog) is a canid hybrid resulting from the mating of a wolf (various Canis lupus subspecies) and a dog (Canis lupus familiaris). The term "wolfdog" is preferred by most wolfdog proponents and breeders since the domestic dog was recently taxonomically recategorized as a subspecies of wolf. The American Veterinary Medical Association and the United States Department of Agriculture refer to them as wolf-dog hybrids.[1] Rescue organizations consider any dog with wolf heritage within the last five generations to be a wolfdog, including some established wolfdog breeds.[2]

In 1998, the USDA estimated an approximate population of 300,000 wolfdogs in the United States (the highest of any country world-wide), with some other sources giving a population possibly as high as 500,000.[1] In first generation hybrids, gray wolves are most often crossed with wolf-like dogs (such as German Shepherd Dogs, Siberian Huskies, and Alaskan Malamutes) for an appearance most appealing to owners desiring to own an exotic pet.[3] Since wolf hybrids are genetic mixtures of wolves and dogs, their physical and behavioral characteristics cannot be predicted with any certainty.[1]

How about - Evidence, real, physical, in your face factual evidence. Evidence doesn't care what your beliefs are. It doesn't care how you feel about a subject. Evidence is evidence and evolution is a factual reality. So is geological time and speciation. You can spout on all day long about how you "believe" the sun rotates around the earth, or that there's a mystical teapot flying around Jupiter that grants wishes. You can believe anything you want. Reality doesn't care. Reality dictates Reality. Not yours or anyone's personal attempt to do so on their own.

Creationism is a theological perspective - a Biblically-derived creation myth, similar to many other creation myths - rooted in faith, which is fundamentally based upon the impalpable and unprovable.

Evolution by natural selection is a demonstrable theory rooted in observation and extrapolation based upon bountiful evidence and has survived the trials of the scientific method a million times over.

One of these is a scientific theory and one of these is a religious notion, the latter of which contributes nothing to our understanding of the mechanics of life.

WHY IS THIS A FUCKING PROBLEM? How is it not obvious what should be taught in a SCIENCE classroom on a SCIENTIFIC subject? Here's a hint : IT'S THE FUCKING SCIENCE!

It was frustrating that the teacher felt like he was being "fair" to evolution by giving it equal time, as though giving "1+1=2" and "1+1=6" equal classroom time is "fair" to addition.

Is it really important for a teacher to respect students' belief that 1+1=6? Give students more respect than that.

Some interesting questions raised here though, what proof do Evolutionists offer to support their claims? I mean, it's like, basically, it's not been proven, I mean, we had to be put here, I mean, like, some super natural thing, I mean, it doesn't make any sense, it's like, look at'em African American folk.

*failure to educate in my opinion.
This teacher seems to spend more time sowing doubt to these kids than educating them.
They are so blind from being fed opinion, they don't have the facilities to take in, recognize and process information in a critical way.

I wonder if they realize that there is little to no proof of creationism while evolution is based strongly on facts - oh..., no, that would involve educating them, sorry!

The "facts" that he says are *lies and have been debunked elsewhere. As far as I know there does not need to be actual debunking for it to be in debunked.

Jokes aside, it's a communication problem for science that eventually things get complicated to a stage where they can't be relayed to an uninformed audience. That said, you'd think that the idea of a God would be hard to impart.>> ^NinjaInHeat:

There is no such thing as evolution. God created AIDS, cancer, Tay-Sachs Disease, meningitis, influenza, bubonic plague, malaria, dysentery, tornados, earthquakes, hurricanes, floods and droughts. And he did it to FUCK WITH YOU. Praise be upon him.

As a completely off topic thought:

Now that they have DNA proof that most people (not directly African) have 1-4% interbred Neanderthal genome.

What do Christians do?

Do they have to stop believing in DNA as well? Is it like a wave of double-think where they have to keep widening their borders of ignorance as new discoveries are made to ensure the creation story holds together?

honkeytonk73says...

There is NO WAY we could have evolved. Because... because.. I don't BELIEVE in it. God said these other things and stuffs about these things and like ya know the things my preacher tells me are true because it was written in a musty tome written by a burlap sack wearing peasant who had shit to his name other than a bag of sand, a hand full of shit, and an ass raped goat.

I edited your quote to be more accurate. Not a Christian myself, but I have lots of Christian friends (of many different denominations) and none of them has any trouble accepting evolutionary theory. They face-palm just as hard as the rest of us when watching videos like this.

I'm starting to feel guilty when I watch videos like this. The same kind of guilty one feels when you laugh at a retarded person. It's so sad that they were born into a community that thinks brain washing children is acceptable.

ravermansays...

Actually completely agree and apologize for the inaccuracy. This stubbornly ignorant puritan fundamentalism is pretty specific to a an extremely vocal minority. Even the catholic church officially does not oppose evolution as proven science.

That video kinda reminds me of one I saw a few years back of a young teen telling his mother something like 'I don't believe in god' and she got so pissed she screamed at him 'You don't believe in god? Well you're not getting any christmas presents from santa this year!' which of course made me almost fall out of my chair I laughed so hard. You don't believe in god? Well that puts you on santa's naughty list cause.. as you know, maybe god isn't real but santa so totally is!

Damn guys. This is high school. You have to expect people would be asking these kinds of "stupid" questions. But making fun of them is like making fun of a 2 year old because they don't know what 2 + 2 is.

They're in school to learn and debate. Duh?

Sketchsays...

The point is that the teachers themselves don't even believe in the scientific facts that they are supposed to be teaching, and clearly the parents hammer their ignorance down their children's throats. So how the hell are those kids supposed to learn proper science? And if they can't, then we, as a country, lose out intellectually, technologically, industrially and economically. It's already happening.

I have no doubt faith can be and is a powerful thing. I have seen and experienced so.

That being said...

Christianity, not alone in this either, is a faith based religion. Practice based religions, e.g., Gnosticism, the various Buddhisms, Hinduism, etc., are more accepting if not celebratory of knowledge. Is there any doubt where a devout Christiam places those so lost and deceived as to "practice" those ....

Faith, to Christians, and others, trumps knowledge, every time. That was seen to in Genesis. The Fall Of Man was it not? Knowledge severed the cord resulting in original sin blah blah blah.

Is it any wonder, therefore, that seeking to reproach a Christian on any grounds, knowledge based that is, is met with anything but righteous indignation, euphemistically and figuratively speaking.

As to this being rare, for whom? All too common for children in many parts of this country, be afraid, very afraid. When this was legislated in a number of states ten years ago, give and take, people to whom I spoke of this refused to believe it.

I am told it all has its place. Very hard to remember sometimes.
