despite my feelings about alex jones' wingnut positions on the trilateral commission, bilderberg, and the cfr...

i'm upvoting because the essential message the vid infers is, as 'the who' so succinctly put it, 'meet the new boss, same as the old boss'

here are some legitimate gripes i have with obama and habeus corpus:

imho, the difference between bush and obama is black and white, literally... although obama can pronounce 'nuclear' ... i believe that his message of change wasn't much more than to convince the american people and the world that he was some sort of harry potter, who could fix all that was wrong simply with a wave of his big black wand

in reality, and from primarily an international perspective, he's the usa's global apology card, primarily to a western europe both worried and not-a-little-angry with america because 1. it gave them 8 years of gw bush, 2. was the sole remaining superpower in the vacuum left by the ussr's collapse, and was now viewed not as the cold war's 'great balancer' but as a post-cold war threat to both global security and international parity, and 3. through the burgeoning of instant mass communication afforded by the internet, the uneducated and largely impolite rabble of europe and the us were better able to ruffle each other's feathers, both innocently and maliciously

this two-way estrangement between the decades-long, erstwhile allies needed and continues to need to be smoothed over, and what better way than to present the world--at least on the surface--a polar opposite to bush and his ilk... a well-spoken, apparently sincere man of intelligence whose humble platitudes and defacto apologies at least try to serve as a soothing balm to the inflamed passions, old rivalries, petty grievances, and genuine concerns that had long lain dormant during the cold war, but were coaxed back to their previous vigor with the ill breath of the three enumerated items in the previous paragraph, which reput would be: 1. american arrogance, 2. a nascent eu's competitiveness and envy, and 3. the ignorance and polemics of the internet's unwashed masses

so... who 'won't get fooled again?'

I love all the people saying "oooh, those brainwashed liberals won't be able to accept this".

Almost 50% of this clip was Rachel Maddow, who you may be surprised to find out is a favorite of liberals. I think you'd be hard pressed to find a liberal that doesn't share Rachel's concerns about Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan.

Only the most starry-eyed person would have expected Obama to be able to deliver on his "no lobbyists" promise. Personally, I expected it to last a bit past the very first round of people he hired during the transition. That said, I'm less worried about lobbyists working for him per se, as I am about their ability to influence policy. We're a bit early yet to really grade Obama's executive branch on that, but certainly Congress is no less swayed by lobbyists than it used to be.

As for the bit about CFR, meh. It takes a valid concern about too much policy inertia from one administration to the next, and then utterly discredits itself by trying to say it's some shadowy secret society pulling the strings that's to blame.

But hey, at least it's a step in the right direction. Most of what's in here is true, and also things I see as strikes against Obama. Much better than the usual Obama = Hitler tripe.

Sorry to reveal the truth to you guys/gals... but the president (forget about the whole political party sham) is a figurehead. Pretty much an 'icon' figurehead for the US government. The 'board of directors', which is NOT elected, calls the real shots behind the scenes. Now you know why core policies remain the same across presidents.

You can put lipstick on a pig.. but it is still a pig. Call a pig a flower by name, but it is still a pig.

Democracy? Representative government? When did you last see the will of the majority implemented in any serious and constructive form? Policies -always- benefit corporations first and foremost. They just toss in a carrot for our benefit here and there to shut up the riffraff populace.

jakesays...

The CFR (Council on Foriegn Relations) is a think tank whos members comprise basically every prominent US politician, central banker and mega corp executives. They have a publication called Foreign Affairs that propagates the kind of thinking they're developing.

Trilateral Commission is much the same with international members spanning different countries in Europe and Asia.

Bilderberg group is secretive to the point of armed guards, people claiming not to have been there/know about it when it is provable that they do, etc. It seems to have many of the same members, however it is more selective than CFR/Trilateral, so probably at the top of the power structure (if there is one).

Combining these three groups, you've got perhaps the most powerful 500 people meeting in secret which are all then connected to the CFR and Trilateral commission. Both are extremely influential groups in the Foreign Policy arena, with the ability to effectively create cases for things like trade agreements that undermine national sovereignty, world food regulation by the WTO, and potentially their goal, a global central world government ruled by them, the most powerful people.. the elite.

As far as I can see it, the CFR in particular is the mouthpiece for this ideology and it happens that Obama's actions seem to fit in quite nicely with it.

1 - This happens a lot. Present negative facts on Obama and you get "well at least he's not Bush" "but what about Bush" etc. etc. The fact that the previous president was corrupt does nothing to excuse the fact that the current one is too. It's obvious Obama has no intention of prosecuting Bush & Co. for war crimes, it's all about "looking forward" I don't think Bush was the better choice at all. Ron Paul was a good choice.

2 - Certainly not, I just expected he might live up to his campaign promises. Withdrawal from Iraq, etc.

3 - A few. There's a difference between the President and "any politician" however.

I'm not whining. There's nothing wrong with posting a video.

TheFreaksays...

I need to hire a plumber to fix my heating boiler before winter. My boiler is very old and in terrible condition so it has to be fixed every fall. All the thoughtful and intelligent comments about this video have inspired me to try a new tactic in getting the issue resolved.

I'm going to start by getting a detailed list from the plumber of EVERYTHING that needs to be done to fix the boiler once and for all and I'm going to set my expectations very high that I'm never going to have to pay to repair that thing again. As he's working, I'm going to stand behind him and question everything he does. If he appears to slow down his work or swap tools I will immediately lose confidence in him. If he should suggest paying to replace the boiler, which I know I should have done years ago, I will get very angry and accuse him of trying to destroy my children's future by stealing my money.

I will constantly check his work against the initial list of repairs he intended to do. If for any reason the work he does changes based on what he finds after he starts I will call him a liar and accuse him of being in league with all the other plumbers I've hired in the past. I'm fairly certain most of the past plumbers I've hired weren't actually concerned with fixing that boiler. Who can blame them really, it's a hopeless job, so I'm sure they just ran up the bill a little, tweaked a couple things and left.

My wife does NOT support the idea of me trying to repair this boiler every year. I think it will actually help if she's with me while I supervise the work so that her criticism of what I'm doing can encourage my growing frustration over the plumber's inability to be finished with his work 30 minutes after he shows up. You know, even though I expected it to take all day.

Oh, yeah, I hope this plumber is not in the Local Plumber's Union (the dreaded 'LPU'). Someone once told me the LPU is a powerful organization with a secret plot to keep my boiler from working.

However, Alex Jones is an insane nut that should be ignored. He's worse than Glenn Beck. He actually believes that the government is worshiping horned pagan gods and working directly with Satan. The only reason I voted for Obama is because I knew he wouldn't be as bad as the pasty old white guy. They're both having their strings pulled by the same people, but at least Obama is trying to resist those strings a little bit. McCain would just go charging down the same path as Bush without a second thought.

I'll tell you exactly what we need to get change in this country:

1. Multiple stage elections. The two party system is just two sides of the same coin. And yes, that coin is purchased with money. Multiple stage elections would give people the chance to vote for who they really want without fear that they are throwing their vote away.

2. Public election financing. Every politician must have the exact same amount of money to spend on their campaign, and they must be able to enter office without being beholden to anybody.

3. Independent media. As far as I'm concerned, the corporate oligarchy has destroyed the free press in this country. The internet is starting to give voice to journalists who dare to speak against corporate interests, but the problem would be solved completely if it was illegal for one person or corporation to own more than one news outlet.

My main point is that money runs our current system of government, and that must change if we ever want to see a government that actually works for the people.

For everyone crying about videos like this not getting votes from the 'left'. I remember the exact same cries when Bush was in power about them not getting votes from the 'right'. The problem isn't just blindness from the left or the right. The entire NWO and military industrial complex conspiracy is just as blind. I'm sorry to be the first to tell you, but our world is unfortunately just much more complicated than all of the above combined.

Videos editing together carefully selected clips to try and simplify global geo-politics into something as simple as military industry, or an NWO run by an elite few don't get votes because thankfully most people just don't buy it. People on both the left and the right don't buy it. People who've studied things in greater depth and breadth see right through it, leaving not very many people left.

Okay, I've been a supporter of Obama since he first entered the race... but I cannot help but agree with these criticisms, Obama is not NEARLY as liberal as we would like him to be.

Also, if the owner of this video wants to be taken more seriously, ... honestly, take out the Trilateral Commission and CFR bullshit .. those are ridiculous conspiracy theories and take away from your credibility dramatically.

Winstonfield_Pennypackersays...

Obama is not NEARLY as liberal as we would like him to be.

Heh - I always get a good chuckle when I hear this. Seriously, Obama is the most liberal kook to ever hold the Presidency... And he isn't NEARLY 'liberal' enough for the kook neolib fringe.

Obama really is in a catch-22 when he listens to the kook neolib fringe. They are his core. The ACORN guys... The DailyKOS freaks... The AFL/CIO goons... The left-wing freak shows are his base. And to keep his base happy, he has to do stuff that is WAAAAAAAY out there to placate them. I mean WAAAAAAAAY out there. If he doesn't do these total whack-job, Dr. Insane-O, kook-fringe things then (as this vid demonstrates) his core of kook fringe flunkies start screaming bloody murder.

But Obama ran as a supposed 'centrist' who would govern from the center. He can't run his administration on a far-left kook fringe neolib ideologue platform. If he does, then he alienates every single independant voter, moderate, or blue-dog democrat who voted for him.

What Obama has actually DONE with his presidency so far is unequivocally left-wing.He has not governed as a moderate. He isn't even slightly conservative. He's a neolib kook and his policiies are all in that philosophy. Because he is such a left wing radical, he's alienating the bulk of his supporters. Moderates & Independants drank the Kool-aid in the election. They really thought he was a moderate. They're alarmed that he is such a slavish left-wing kook, and they hate what he's doing. His numbers reflect the fact that Obama's neolib platform is unwanted and unpopular with normal, everyday citizens.

But they aren't left wing ENOUGH for the neolib kooks - so he's losing support among even THEM. He's 10 points away from being George W. Bush. Almost feel a little sorry for him.
