Car Parks on Pedestrian Crossing. Pedestrian Gets Revenge

moonsammysays...

Would love to have been able to see the first driver. How much were they screaming? Lots of eye-rolling perhaps, or gesturing?

We may never know.

daxgazsays...

I love this guy a whole lot. I have done similar things at the school crosswalk in my neighborhood and it is very hard to do this even when you know you are in the right and protecting people.

Mordhaussays...

The guy is just as much of a dick as the guy blocking the lane. Why, you ask?

Well, as you can clearly see, he is not only 'punishing' the car blocking the lane, but he is also causing people behind the car to be held up and also creating a situation very conducive to causing accidents as those people jockey to get around the blockage. Did all those people force the person in the car to block the lane? Why should they be punished for the actions of one other driver?

Basically the protester's arrogance equals or exceeds that of the driver he is 'teaching a lesson'.

gorillamansays...

This is stopping on a pedestrian crossing. There are people who actually park on the crossing in my town. There's a cash machine right next to it, so sure enough shithead after shithead rolls up and gets out to use the machine.

These people are essentially very inefficient murderers, and they should be prosecuted as murderers.

poolcleanersays...

Oh boo fucking hoo. "I just lost 2 minutes of my life." 21st century punishment...

It's not punishment. It's fucking arrogance. He took it upon himself to 'teach' a lesson to the first driver without regard to anyone else. How is that any better than the driver who decided that his need to be in a hurry and block the intersection was more important?

Assuming of course that is what happened, perhaps the driver misjudged the light and got stuck rather than run the light? We don't know what led to the car being in the intersection, only that some random prick decided to take it solely upon himself to stand in front of the car as a supposed lesson. I don't know about you, but in the 21st century, I think that we should have advanced past petty vigilantism. Which is all this is, one person taking it upon themselves to be the sole decider of wrongdoing and punishment. Does that sound like something we as a society wants to promote? Because if it is, then it would have been just as fair for the driver of one of those cars to grab a hold of that jackass and toss him back onto the sidewalk in a bloody heap.

The ass was begging to be hit or cause someone else to be hit by the cars going past the one he was blocking. He isn't some sort of hero who 'took a stand' against evil and wrongdoing, he is just a self-righteous dick.

The driver in the crosswalk may have made an honest mistake and misjudged the light. The driver behind the car in the crosswalk could have left room for the car in front to back up. Again, it could have been an honest mistake, but collectively they still inconvenienced or endangered at least a few pedestrians. I'm in the punishment-fits-the-crime camp.

Taintsays...

Someone accidentally pulled a little too far ahead and this guy decides to be a complete dick about it.

No one was in danger, anyone could literally walk a foot out of their way and get around the front of that car.

The driver made an innocent mistake, this guy is being a deliberate asshole.

MichaelLsays...

Yeah, I'm calling the pedestrian a dick. The driver likely decided at the last second to play it safe by not going through the intersection on a stale amber and so wound up in the crosswalk. Every driver has had that happen to them at some point.
Along comes a douchebag who takes it upon himself to be an asshole. The proof is that he then goes after the white car who is what? a couple of feet into a very wide crossing.
If karma exists this asshat will get mowed down by a driver while jaywalking.

Yeah, I was with you until you said he should get mowed down.

Not quite what I said but re-reading it, I can see the ambiguity.

I personally don't follow the love for this guy.

He's fucking over a lot of people over what's really a very minor infraction that doesn't really affect anyone very negatively.

Pedestrians just have to shift their walking path over a few feet. The car isn't parked in the crosswalk, just stopped for the duration of the signal.

It's not really revenge for a guy to completely block a lane full of vehicles who've done no wrong when everyone in the crosswalk was still able to walk around the stopped vehicle.

It would have been a much better for him to stand partially in the way of the offending vehicle so that it could still go, but had to drive around him first. Still wouldn't be something I'd applaud, but it'd be more apt and would make him less of a dickhead to everyone trying to proceed with their life.

That's especially true for the second car which was only into the crosswalk very minimally. That's where the vigilante really proves he's just looking to stir up some shit, not really in the name of charity and good will shepherding the weak through the valley of darkness. (Redacted per @newtboy's comment below.)

newtboysays...

I was actually behind him more on the second car. It revved it's motor and jumped at him (not trying to hit him, but acting like he was). To me, that guy was also being a dick, and got some dickitry returned for his trouble.
Also, once he started, the only safe place for him to be was in front of the car stopping it from moving. If he let it go by, he's just standing in the middle of the street with traffic all around him. (maybe he should have thought of that before starting his 'lesson'?)
You are absolutely correct though, he's doing to everyone behind the driver a worse version of what the driver did to the pedestrians...getting in their way inappropriately.

Thanks for pointing that out. I'm watching at work with volume down and I was skipping around, so I missed the revving and jumping. Threatening a pedestrian with your vehicle is totally not okay.
