U.S. Airman "comes out" to his father over the phone.

An American Airman based in Germany nervously phones his father to tell him he's gay.

[Update]:- For those who think it may possibly be fake. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Hnrp73StWA

I remember my best friend coming out to his mum in the car outside the front of my house after we'd talked about him doing it all night. What a gorgeous phonecall that was when he got home and told me what happened

I remember when somebody close came out to me. He was shaking pretty bad. Way he was acting I thought he was admitting murder or something, he was that terrified I'd reject him or that our relationship would change. I couldn't really understand why he got so worked up at the time. To me homosexuality was a complete non-issue. Then you see the hate that sometimes gets directed at homosexuality and you begin to understand why its an issue for them, why it might be a nerve wracking experience coming out even to people you know will probably be supportive.

Give the much older openly gay "It gets better" postings by this user on youTube... This strikes me as a person with an agenda and an opinion, not someone living in the secrecy about to come out.

The internet cynic in me says this video is scripted and staged to set and example that parents may not react negatively to coming out.

A good video, a good message, and good acting... but 'possibly' fake

exact same thing with my friend, he was shocked that it was a non-issue for me

I pray for the day when a son can come out to his family and the family goes "Big deal take out the trash". Lets just live and let live goddammit.

I'm reading some Joe Halderman. In his future everyone in the armed forces is gay. Heterosexuality is seen as a perversion akin to cannibalism. That's one way to lick the population problem.

You should have given him a hand job at least for being so brave.

If this is acting, the man is in the wrong line of work.>> ^raverman:

Am reading a german fantasy series recently where the elite force of the military is only homosexual couples who are exceedingly good at killing things because they watch each others back all the time....... for some reason...

What is disappointing is people like you that perpetuate the idea that love has boundries.

This young, strong, healthy man (who is at this moment fighting for YOUR rights while YOU judge him from your saggy armchair eating cheesy poofs) is scared to admit a part of his heart to his father that loves him unconditionally. All because of hateful thoughts from close-minded strangers who feel the need to spew their mean opinions about a subject that truly does not involve them.
And thankfully his father hasn't listened to people like you, with stereotypical ideals about what is to be expected from loved ones.

Even our most accomplished of artisans can't define the amazingly vast facets of love. Yet something as crude as genitalia defines it perfectly for you.

Don't spread your poisonous thoughts all over a such a beautiful, human, bare-naked emotional moment such as this one was.

That's got to be a big disappointment.

Sounds like "The Forever War" if you mean Haldeman
