This Indian robot movie might blow your mind

I think this might be called Robot and it seems like a blend of The Terminator and The Matrix. And a lot of WTF.

I guess when you come from a country with an overpopulation problem, the extreme loss of life isn't really that absurd.

"Hey! 480 people just died in the last 30 minutes from a crazed, homicidal replicating robot! Looks like the police department has a couple of job openings! Verah nice!"

Imagine someone in 1911 looking at this movie and trying to figure out what's going on.

Now imagine what movies digital experience implants will be like in 2111.

What language is this dubbed into? There's a guy talking over everybody. Also, PHYSICS DOES NOT WORK THAT WAY.
it's a typical Russian dub.
in Russia unofficial/semi-official movies are almost always translated by a single guy with a clothespin on his nose.

In case anyone is wondering, the movie is called Endhiran (2010).

It has a 7.210 in IMDB (5,442 votes) and 4.2/5 on Rotten Tomatoes (1070 ratings).

Can be found in all the usual places

I usually find these bollywood things to be tiresome bores. But this was genuinely imaginative and entertaining. The portion with the ball was very nicely done.

In the way that Charlie Chaplin's film, Modern Times offered a *parody-ied insight into the implications of the industrial revolution, so too did I notice here some interesting (albeit absurd and exaggerated) considerations posited on the impact of digital culture, artificial intelligence, augmented reality, et. al. on our humanity. With every technology comes an incomparable cost.

This robot is an insane uncle-gadget/terminator/voltron/magneto/replicator/robocop/agent-smith/i-robot of murderous rampaging doom.
If you need me, I'll be in my time machine, heading for when this all blows over.

So I just watched the movie, having been inspired by this clip. I'll tell you, the movie is more i-Robot than terminator in a lot of ways. For instance, the movie is 3 hours long, and this 10 minute clip had about 50% of the real action scenes in it. There are a number of other more Matrix style action scenes with a single robot, and a bunch of scrubs, but otherwise it's wysiwyg. There are about 20 of your typical bollywood song and dance numbers (which is not to be scoffed at, considering it generally constituted Ms. Rai dancing and dressing suggestively).

Still, I think it was better at being i-Robot than i-Robot was, largely because of the 20 minutes of CG filled gratuitous action. So long as you go into it appropriately inebriated and prepared to laugh, it's worth filling a rainy day with.
