Pet Cat Saves Son From Dog Attack

A boy and his mother were in their front yard, playing and watering the plants. The neighbor's dog was let out of its backyard enclosure, seemingly by accident. The dog spotted the boy from across the yard and stalked up behind him. The boy never saw the attack coming. The dog clamped on to his leg and began dragging the boy. That's when the family's cat took action.

MOM UPDATE:
Why the mom leave the son... The dog continues to linger on the other side of the SUV. She is trying to run it off while simultaneously getting the attention of the dog owner who is also in his driveway. She ends up going head to head with the dog, and also getting bit herself. Both the cat and the mom are bad-ass.

Bloody hell. That horrifies me to see that little boy mauled like that.

As amazing as that pussy is, I think my cat would probably just sit there and yawn during the attack.

I feel bad for the kid and the dog because it's obviously neglected. However it made my day seeing a cat so defensive over its property. I would love to see an F1 Savanah go to town on an attacking dog. Seriously, I think modern breeding is going to create some awesome home defense cats.

"The dog, identified by local news station KERO as an eight-month-old Labrador and Chow mix"
Sorry, folks, that's part of the problem right there.., Chow. These dogs are skittish and will attack for no reason at all.
My wife was bitten in the face, across her eye, by one at a friends place, for trying to move it off the bed in the night. The dog himself, is a great dog, a family dog. but you just can't trust him one hundred per cent of the time. which is unfortunate. You just learn to move extra slow around him. (not to mention, putting him outside when small kids come over).

Chows are listed on most top-ten lists for violent behavious...

8. Chow-Chow
"Somewhat surprising due to their small frame and stature, the Chow-Chow was reported to have been responsible for 8 fatalities in the journal’s study. With an average Chow-Chow weighing about 60 pounds (28 kilograms) and only growing as large as about 20 inches (52 centimeters) the Chow-Chow is unfortunately known to have a very aggressive personality, especially around strangers.

They are usually held as pets, and due to their size they can be kept in apartments. The danger rests when they lack exercise or are just generally bored, and will sometimes lash out at strangers and even owners due to boredom."

Sagemind is right. The breed is not to be trusted for anything more than what it was originally bred for: An ornament at temples, and for it's meat and hide when it failed to perform as a suitable ornament. It's a crap breed for a domesticated companion. Overly protective of it's initial, imprinted-upon trainer and a wild-card to strangers.
