What Happens To Good Cops?

What Happens To Good Cops?

Sniper007 says...

Well newtboy, how about this? Start promoting the concept of taking action on your own behalf and on behalf of your fellow man in situations that most would normally delegate to the police force.

Start first with listing every situation that would cause someone to call the cops. Be comprehensive. It might take several days or weeks. You may even want to interview subject matter experts to help with this ideation phase.

Then, come up with 3-5 alternative courses of action for each situation that don't involve a police force.

How motivated are you? I organize these types of research projects for a living. Heck, even without you I might undertake this project. I have many others higher on my list though.

Once you are done, it's a matter of publishing and promoting your research. I do all that as well.

And they still don't. But hey, this is pop science. It is now expected to be horribly wrong and highly entertaining. To be successful, it must only affirm existing beliefs (or challenge weakly held beliefs) for a great number of people. The perception of accuracy and truth only needs to persist for the length of the video + or - a few minutes for early dropouts and comment skimming.

I'm pretty sure there is a video about how this video was filled with miss-information and substantiated information.
When the YouTube channel that pointed it out, tried to contact them on the sloppy job, they gave him the run-around until they finally posted a re-edited version saying they noticed themselves that they had accidentally made a few errors and updated their video.
And by accidentally, they meant, they didn't fact check anything at all.

Squish Baby

Sniper007 jokingly says...

I know, right? Might even grow up thinking it's normal to interact in an intimate way with other babies. This could give the child the impression that he exists to bring joy and happiness into other peoples lives, and that people enjoy being around him. This may one day lead him to seek relationships with other humans and be similarly intimate and happy with them and their faces. Alas, the world is free and people are probably doing this all over the place without us even knowing.

Sheriff Caught On Bodycam Telling Deputies To Lie

I believe the only real solution is to recognize that the role of a police officer is one that is inherently unstable. As history shows, it is impossible to expect one small group of people to deal with all the violence, anger, punitive actions, and force for all of society.

But without this group of mentally and morally unstable people, then each person in the populace at large would need to individually learn how to deal with violent offenders, restrain someone, know when to use lethal force, adjudicate their punishment, carry out their punishment, handle traffic accidents, dead bodies, emergencies, and so much more. The culture at large already expects every person to delegate these tasks, and if an individual does not immediately call the cops there may actually be punitive action taken against that individual.

I have no solution to this societal problem. But then again, I don't feel obligated to solve the problem for society. In fact, the eventual destruction of the society (that so delegates) may be the eventual "solution" that inevitably comes without collective individual change. I'm content having a solution fit for myself, my family, and for those who other souls who come to me personally for a solution (to varying degrees).

Good thing these same companies with the same financial motivations don't produce vaccines, fund vaccine research, or lobby governing regulatory bodies in the exact same way they did with OxyContin.

Hmm... so we're all just going to go along and believe the title are we?

Even in this edit we see the kid remarking that the teacher raised their fist to him and challenging him to "do it again". Not the best way to react, but pretty understandable if your fight or flight has been triggered.

The source video seems suspiciously free of context or additional detail. Reminds me of the many "instant karma" videos which conveniently miss the alleged event that deserves the violence that follows. But we all get our two minute hate and the warm glow of consequences well deserved.

Delaware State Trooper Pulls Gun on Black Man For Speeding

Sniper007 says...

Two studies have found that at least 40% of police officer families experience domestic violence, in contrast to 10% of families in the general population.

This means that even non-abusing good cops have (on average) a group of friends and coworkers comprised of 40%+ abusers in the home. 2 out of every 5. These are friends and coworkers that they would take a bullet for and defend with perjury if need be. These are the good cops.

But you know, I don't blame them? The role itself is insane. Why should humanity have the right to put all of our collective violent, physical, criminal, and tragic life events onto the shoulders of one small group of people? It's not sustainable. And it shows in the lives of those who attempt to assume that role.

Well, I guess we could always blame them for being cops. I mean, there are many other, much more effective ways to improve a culture and impact positive change. If that was their motivation for becoming a cop. That would be a positive take-away: Come up with alternate work programs to help cops stop being cops.
