We must be inundated with trains killing stupid people for them to create this atrocity of a PSA.

@lucky760, in 2009 in Palo Alto, CA (where I was living at the time), there was a cluster of four (4) teen suicides-by-train within five (5) months of each other.
I wouldn't be surprised if this ad was at least partially in response to that.

Could definitely have been executed better.

poignant in Ottawa right now. Last week, a bus drove through the safety gates and crashed into a moving train. 6 dead, others injured. Still no word as to why the bus driver did not slow down (or maybe he sort of tried, depends on the witness.)

I ride a train to work and all too often we have service delays because people try and race the train. Luckily, most walk away, but there's a lot that don't.

My feeling was that if the message was really "Don't try to beat the train," it'd be someone driving fast and dangerously.

The driver in this just seems to be mentally ill. She's cruising slowly alongside the train tracks, then just because the guard rails come down she decides it'd be fun to see if she could possibly not kill everyone in the car? Just for kicks?

Unrealistic. Nonsensical. She must be sick in the head. Hence my awful title.

Yeah but the difference there is that the bus drove into the side of the train. It's not that the bus was on the tracks and then hit by the train. So it's not as though the driver was trying to "beat" the train in that case. A very BAD situation nonetheless.

I guess they'll next create a PSA educating train engineers to not try to beat buses past the intersection.

This isn't as bad as a PSA I've seen that basically says "check the driveway for your kids first, so you don't run them over when you back up."

PSA's which feature nonsensical situations (srsly... "I got this!".. /lol) would have almost no effect on the target audience which is already prone to completely ignoring handy advice from the older/wiser/more informed...

But if you are going to do a safety ad, do it proper...
