Never, Ever Give Up. Arthur's Inspirational Transformation!

Arthur Boorman was a disabled veteran of the Gulf War for 15 years, and was told by his doctors that he would never be able to walk on his own, ever again.

He stumbled upon an article about Diamond Dallas Page doing Yoga and decided to give it a try -- he couldn't do traditional, higher impact exercise, so he tried DDP YOGA and sent an email to Dallas telling him his story.

Dallas was so moved by his story, he began emailing and speaking on the phone with Arthur throughout his journey - he encouraged Arthur to keep going and to believe that anything was possible. Even though doctors told him walking would never happen, Arthur was persistent. He fell many times, but kept going.

Arthur was getting stronger rapidly, and he was losing weight at an incredible rate! Because of DDP's specialized workout, he gained tremendous balance and flexibility -- which gave him hope that maybe someday, he'd be able to walk again.

His story is proof, that we cannot place limits on what we are capable of doing, because we often do not know our own potential. Niether Arthur, nor Dallas knew what he would go on to accomplish, but this video speaks for itself. In less than a year, Arthur completely transformed his life. If only he had known what he was capable of, 15 years earlier.

Do not waste any time thinking you are stuck - you can take control over your life, and change it faster than you might think.

Hopefully this story can inspire you to follow your dreams - whatever they may be.

I said it on reddit, and I'll say it here: why the fuck do I feel like I'm being sold something?
I'm sorry for being so jaded, but I do have a decent (if not hypersensitive) bullshit detector.

It is always good to exercise caution on things like this, but I think this is safe. Short of mentioning a Yoga instructor's name, there is no other promotional text or Send money here, or captioning to visit a web site, or any of the other indicators. Seemed like an honest "Thanks and don't limit yourself" video.

I watched it, and I just felt fucking pumped. Woe be to he who puts a challenge in my way today!

Simply incredible. Someone found a way to make Coldplay sound worse.

Oh, is that who does that song? Funny part is a recognized the song, but I know it from the a cappella band Straight, No Chaser. Their version rocks.

I'd tag this viral, made by someone smart enough to be subtle as the internet is a cynical place. Especially here at 127.0.0.1.

Actually I really like Coldplay's version, but it's fashionable to knock them. Not keen on much of Coldplay's stuff but this is one of best.

Check the video description on the youtube page. ddpyoga, ddpyoga all over the place. This is just an advertisement...not saying that this didn't really happen, but advertisements suck the life and caring out of me. Nothing like capitalism to suck the romance out of everything.>> ^CrushBug:

That is probably why I rarely go to YouTube and only hang out here. That is why I love the 'Sift.

I don't think that it is inappropriate if he was trying to promote that a yoga system helped him over at YouTube. I am just saying that it really didn't appear in the video and since vids like this get embedded all over the place. Most people won't see any of it, like me.

So you're running on the "ignorance is bliss" platform...

I do that too sometimes. I have no idea what's happening in the news. But then again, my BS detector is always going off whenever I do watch the news. I should just become a hermit.>> ^CrushBug:

Holy Shit that Coldplay cover was the most atrocious thing I've ever heard! And was that the Third Eagle of the Apocalypse at 0:58?

Okay, now that I've got my petty gripes and sarc out of the way I can fully bask in the awesome feelgoodness of this story.

The more fat cells you make the harder it is to lose weight and keep it off. Fat cells stay fat cells in your body even when they are not loaded with fat. Takes just as much discipline to get fat as it does to get un-fat.

Yoga can affect changes that seem miraculous (and they are) but anything one does to clear chi as a practice can do the same. Ever see what Pilates can do?? Volleyball? Swimming?

Oh hey, Rottenseed?? You are most likely already hermitized. You should simply stop watching TV with a view to actually getting any real information. News rhymes with lose and like this feel-good journal pimped-out to yoga-man it includes an over-abundance of adverts.

Incredibly cool story. More power to the man who blew out his knees and compacted his lumbar hopping out of transport planes for the empire! Reminds me of that scene from Starship Troopers where the mobile infantry recruiter without legs exclaimed with enthusiasm, "The mobile infantry made me the man I am today!"

Just goes to show you, all those scooter-bound "disabled" fat people that you see riding around the supermarket CAN become normally functioning humans if they really wanted to.

I get what you're saying, it's not completely insensitive and some people need the extra push that a little cynical doubt can bring. In fact, a lot of people need that.

BUT...

The story of people who were once very physically fit, who get injured and then bounce back, is a really common scenario. In fact, many of the pictures you see in nutrition ads and diet books of people making crazy improvements come from pictures of athletes who've injured themselves. They get hurt and then take some recovery time to allow themselves to heal up, during which they gain a lot of weight and lose muscle mass. Then they get back on the old program and sell or trade the pics for endorsements or supplements, etc.

I'm not trying to say that this video isn't impressive. Just that everyone is different.

Yeah, it worked for one person, therefore it necessarily works for 100% of people who appear in some way similar to that one person. Good logic. I hear the Romney campaign is looking for a foreign policy spokesperson. You should apply.</sarcasm>

I'm pretty cynical myself, but what is inspiring is not that this guy did this but that he didn't give up. Screw you all when the best you can come up with is that you didn't like the song. So? What the hell does that have to do with someone's ability to overcome their own perceived limitations?

"Argue for your limitations and sure enough they're yours" - Richard Bach (flaky yes, but well thought and spoken.)

"“There is a principle which is a bar against all information, which is proof against all arguments and which cannot fail to keep a man in everlasting ignorance - that principle is contempt prior to investigation” - Herbert Spencer.

Bravo!!

So much cynicism in the comments. Remember when you were young and un-jaded and you'd simply enjoy something for what it was? Full of optimism and seeing the glass half full rather than half empty? I'm guilty of being cynical myself, but sometimes it is just worth it to laugh and love in life without feeling the need to announce every slight suspicion of anything you suspect is out of place.

Please just watch it again and enjoy the beauty of what you see, not what you think that you might see.

Because you're missing out big time.

I'd like to see this guys disgnosis. Its absolutely great with what he's accomplished but I'm always a little bothered when people say things like, "doctors told me I'd never walk again." I'm sure there is much more to what the doctors or others in the medical field have said or meant. There is another video online with a lady that had a spinal injury and said the same thing but now ambulates utilizing a mechanical walking device. It's great and all but it always feels like MD's and the like are being slightly vilified in context.
