How Systemic Racism Works

DrewNumberTwo says...

Racism became illegal 50 years ago? Where? I don't understand the conflation of racism with systems of social discrimination. One can be racist without any sort of social or government system. How else would such systems get put into place? This woman is telling me what I can and cannot see because I'm white. How the fuck would she know? So much for people being individuals.

RadioShack's New Commercial

I just tell people that I don't give out that information. No zip code or anything. When people started asking me my name years ago I thought they were fucking crazy, and I was shocked to see so many people casually giving their name and address out.

Koch Brothers Can't Stand Their Own Organizations

DrewNumberTwo says...

I wonder what those people will do when no one will hire them and they can't get a job because of their record.

Perhaps you are right about the costs of drug-testing. A much better way would be to deny benefits for people with criminal records. Much easier to determine.

Megyn Kelly on Fox: "Some things do require Big Brother"

DrewNumberTwo says...

Even if it's true that the vaccine sometimes causes the disease, that doesn't at all debunk herd immunity. I don't even see how it's an argument against vaccines unless the number of people getting the disease from the vaccine is very large.

I find it baffling that this is a thing that people are against. Vaccines are one of the greatest advances in history and have, without a doubt, saved many lives.

Debunking the notion of "herd immunity," this doctor provides evidence for how the vaccines themselves can cause the person to develop measles and, itself, become the source of an outbreak.
Yet another problem coming as the result of patent laws and FDA-bred cronyism in the vaccine business..

In terms of "Big Brother," the United States government has paid more than $3 billion to victims of vaccines since 1989, according to the National Vaccine Injury Compensation (VICP).

You had one job!

DrewNumberTwo says...

It always surprises me how people tend to stand so close to things going wrong. They seem to have no idea how much more wrong things can go. If you can get a good look at an imminent train collision or falling crane, you are standing much, much too close.

NYS Trooper Rosenblatt Doesn't Like Being Recorded

DrewNumberTwo says...

The thing about interacting with the police is that their job is to find something that you've done wrong and make you pay for it. A jury will believe a cop over a random person, and cops can be wrong, and cops can be corrupt. Recording an encounter gives the jury an objective view of what was recorded. In a one on one encounter, it's just about the only thing that a person can do to prove that they're telling the truth. It's not being a dick any more than refusing to answer questions is.

Okay, yes, the cop is a puffed up dick but so is this smart ass kid who appears to be on a power trip of his own after spending the day perusing infowars in his parents' basement. It is obnoxious to hold a phone up in someone's face while having a conversation with them. The fact that he is acting within his constitutional rights doesn't make him any less of a prick.

That went much better than I thought it would. Those guys seemed awfully calm about lighting that thing. I would have been sprinting to hide in a bunker.

The Fine Tuning of the Universe

DrewNumberTwo says...

No, the argument says that the universe exists, and then makes the conclusion that it's fine tuned to be the way it is, but it treats that conclusion as though it's a premise.

shinyblurry said:

The argument says that it is more probable that the fine tuning of the Universe is due to design rather than chance or necessity.
