acidSpinesays...I wanted to see a couple from the amazing race in a studio pretending a green rug is the Eiffel tower
rosser99says...Ooo, I love that blue screen that sneaks his way in there!
Xaxsays...Wow, some of these are absolutely, incredibly amazing. I tend to think I'm pretty good at recognizing green screen shots, but I'm clearly nowhere near as good as I thought. When it's bad, it's pretty bad, but most of these shots I would've bet were legit.
Opus_Moderandisays...this is the sort of computer graphics work i find impressive, the stuff you would never think was computer graphics. not fake looking monsters or people throwing cars and shit... imo.
dagsays...Comment hidden because you are ignoring dag.(show it anyway)
Very cool. Must save heaps on location costs.
brycewi19says...Wait, so you're saying Hiro never transported from Tokyo to New York?

antsays...Wow, lots of fake scenes. *music

ReverendTedsays...Right there with Xax on this. Quite a few of those I would never have guessed were greenscreened, partially because I wouldn't have guessed that they would NEED to. A few of them had things that stuck out once they went "back" to the shot, but by and large - pretty impressive work.

Herostratussays...Hmm. I wonder how long until cities figure out a way to get some money from stock footage. I don't think they can trademark landmarks. Maybe streetnames/intersections?
westysays...what i want to know is who put all these green sheets of fabric all over usa? Iv never seen them in the uk.
RedSkysays...I always thought that location shots took up the bulk of the budget too, guess I was very wrong. Funny to see how they show they reused the same stairs from the movie with Ashton Kutcher to 24.
Xaielaosays...Note folks most of these aren't cg graphics but rather digital panoramas. (Especially those like the last that were placed in a very well known city or area of the world.)
But even still I had no idea so many shots were green-screen. I didn't realize it was so heavily used in television.
PHJFsays...I blame Avatar.
shatterdrosesays...Also means it takes a lot more talent to be an actor/actress. You have to pretend you're seeing stairs, backgrounds, wind, and even being somewhere. Hell, you have to pretend someone is literally right there, touching you, talking to you etc. After all, that's why R2D2 whistles . . . it was a place marker to keep timing.
jmdsays...Im with you rev. I usualy try and guess whats been green (it was actually blue screen back in the day) screened, but clearly it cost such a fraction of what it used to, and now even the most generic shots are chroma keyed.
MaxWildersays...This makes me very, very sad. Not sure why. Like our world is becoming more fake every day, because fake is cheaper than real.
Paybacksays...Some of those were horrifically bad, but some were severely UUTF.

And filming people pretending to do stuff reeding a made up script is real ? its just a progression of the medium. just because the back drop is done in as a comp or CG dose not make it less real if annything it denotes more artistic intentoin and controle.
there are still plenty of films and sceens that rnt cgi as much as there are things that are 100% cgi. if you want tno CGI and just actors then go to a theater.
personalty i don't give a shit how the end product is achieved so long as its enjoyable and its not to exploitative of people. ( the only time it matters is when its done bad but most the bg stuff in this 90% of people would never know about or notice )
xxovercastxxsays...It was pretty easy to spot the green screen in these shots when I knew ahead of time that there was one. A lot I would have never noticed normally and several of them were painfully obvious no matter what.
The trick to lying, though, is making your lies believable. That's why even those of us who are good at spotting this stuff wouldn't notice it in these scenes. All but a couple of these scenes are perfectly believable, so we don't take a close look at them.
If I had two doctored photos (claiming both were real); one of me standing in a corn field and one of an alien spacecraft landing in a corn field; which do you think people would be more likely to find flaws in? There's no reason to doubt I could stand in a corn field, so even pretty significant flaws would tend to be overlooked. The flying saucer, however, people would probably find flaws that didn't even exist.
ForgedRealitysays...FAKE!!!
astr0says...Yataa!
demon_ixsays...Yeah. Avatar looks a bit different without the green screen

ctrlaltbleachsays...You cant look at it as being fake look back at tv from the past it looks quite a bit more fake. You would have to guess this was going on. How are people in California and New York at the same time. They would be flying people all over the place its actually green when you think about it.
Trancecoachsays...Oh, cheap digital effects, is there nothing you can't do?

bstenslandsays...Seriously, I'll never believe in anything cinematic again...best example of absolutely NO natural surroundings, the great movie '300'.
