Wrecking ball accidentally takes out a van

UPDATE: Payback says it's a stunt for a movie, The Other Guys.

Wow I hope no one was fatally injured! That was messed up, the van did a barrel roll. I don't doubt there were some serious injuries.. and you would think that the crew working would have accounted for cars passing in the street and the trajectory of the wrecking-ball. Seems like there was some seriously poor planning.

WOW COOL I ALWAYS WANTED TO WATCH AN AD BEFORE A VIDEO ON VIDEOSIFT. Fuck that. I would fucking downvote if I could. Can we get a different embed without a fucking ad at the beginning? I'm not watching TV here.

I've lived in too many urban areas where idiot drivers ignore closed-street signs to blame this on the construction workers right away.

What sticks out to me more is that there's something funny about that bus that passes the camera at the beginning. Is it just me, or does it look like it's sliding sideways??

It played an ad for me (also using ABP) the first time I loaded the video, then I hit refresh partway through the ad and it loaded a different ad. Finally, I said "fuck it, this video can't be worth all this bullshit," and clicked away to a different video.

I don't support that kind of aggressive FORCE-YOU-TO-WATCH-OUR-SHIT advertising. I still haven't seen the video this sift was supposed to be about. Whatever.

edit - I gave it a shot, and hit play again. Another ad. FUCK YOU.

FAKE! Even though it's live...

For the movie "The Other Guys". It's a stunt. I just posted, and will now discard, a better YouTube version where you can see the hydraulic flipper arm under the van. I understand they use the ball to "crush" the black car on the right too.

Another thing, wrecking balls are like a quarter that size, and are tear-drop shaped. That's more like a "wrecking balloon".

They were filming a movie
It was filmed on the corner of Park Ave and 24th ST http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=&sll=40.740866,-73.985922&sspn=0.006487,0.013937&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=&ll=40.740705,-73.98587

The following day they also had a car accident filmed in the exactly the same spot and also shoved that same van into a building on the left. On the day of this wrecking ball Samuel L. Jackson and Dwayne Johnson were on the set.

My office windows are right above that intersection and i saw it live

Crunchysays...

It was no accident i tells ya, the car had probably some fault that would cost alot to repair -> bam insurance for free i mean it seems like just such of an failage from so many people but then again D: its america!

kymbossays...

Fake! Because you can judge by the reactions of all viewers that they were subtley anticipating carnage, and were dressed appropriately, and the wind conditions, um, and all the statements of fact and links above.

While we are flogging this dead horse...Notice the "tipping jack" popping out on the rear of the vehicle, so that the vehicle will flip and I'm pretty sure a wrecking ball that large would leave a smear and not a intact vehicle on it's side.

> Notice the "tipping jack" popping out on the rear of the vehicle

Thats the axle of course...

Seriously though you can really tell the window and windowframe of the car has about as much mass as that air baloon they hit it with.
