Google Project Glass smart glasses

If they can pull these off it will be awesome.

Augmented reality displays are already here, its just a matter of form factor and profitability before we have them closer to our eye ... or you could tape an iphone under a hat and be cool like that

I don't see anything in this video that has the slightest appeal to me.

If I had glasses like this, I'd want them to serve as my computer screen. Allowing me to create a workspace when I could have large space to work, zoom in and out at will and turn my head or rotate in my chair to see more open workspace or pre-designed things I could use.

If they could give you a screen in your glasses wirelessly and capture hand movements without needing a physical input device...that'd be something really impressive and powerful.

Think about a room of people wearing these glasses, able to create a shared "thing" in the middle of the room everyone could walk around, see, and work on. Ideally a hologram would be better since you could make sure you're all seeing the same thing, but the glasses would go beyond what a projected screen or television could ever do.

yeah, for once I can agree with QM on something. Never underestimate the market shills that will milk this crap for all it's worth.

Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of augmented reality...for things that really matter like research, work, science, and heck..yes...military applications.

I just get sick and tired of amazing tech like this being marketed to the hipster/fashion/leisure crowd I just really have no need to be that hooked in when it comes to social/leisure things. God forbid he actually interact with someone ask them directions or where something is. Nor am I looking forward to another round of peer pressure bullshit when it comes to new gadgets like this.w

Ya know what I see being cool with this. Video Games that you play in the real world. You can have augmented reality created by people, certain things you can do within their world they created in a city or part of a city or even in a field somewhere. It could be as simple as a ball program that try to work around the city to score a goal or something. I don't know there just seems like a ton of possibilities and I think it would be really cool. This is the first thing I've seen in my lifetime that has the chance of being something seriously science fictiony that I'd actually want.

Heh, think of a version of Assassins Creed multiplayer with these glasses.

I can see lots of people with shattered kneecaps screaming in pain surrounding 2-3 story buildings they thought they could jump off of easily.

Or, you know, I more meant the compass marker towards your target, all the while someone else has you as a target.

This looks really cool, but I cringe when tech companies think we really need help doing things like judging the weather by looking out the window. As a user, you then relegate so many simple critical thinking items to 'the cloud' or whatever, you become an effing zombie. I know that's extreme, but I already do this with my iPhone. Can't come up with the answer in 2 seconds? Google/Wikipedia/etc.

I think that never before has your Avatar been so appropriate for a video seeing as how most likely this guy is wearing the exact same helmet.
I'd also hate the see the size of his brain tumor.

So this might be for you if your interests include:

Maps
To-do lists
Stalking and/or being stalked
Unavoidable phone and e-mail messages beamed into your eyes all day
Unavoidable advertisements beamed into your eyes all day

What a joyless and unimaginative future we live in.

edited-redacted for fun

Needless to say, I'm not sure this device will be great unless we can get wireless Internet basically "no matter what" on this device without destroying your wallet monthly in the process.
