Yeah I agree, motion control as it stands is a really shallow innovation. And I am also not a fan of the Wii. Super Mario Galaxy was amazing but other than that, its all pretty much crap.

I think my Wii sees more use with NES/SNES/Genesis emulators (hooray Homebrew Channel) than any of the "real" games laying in a stack next to it under a 3 inch thick pile of dust.

I don't think a game has to be relaxing/passive to be enjoyable.

Just depends what typ of game you want to play , its wrong to stipulate that all games have to be passave , in the same way it would be wrong to stipulate that all games have to be active . I find playing DDR , rock band doing some races in LFS/R factor with a g25 wheel quite relaxing but very active.

unfortunately The real problem with the Wii is that it dosenot provid a good mix and allot of the games on wii are inapropreatly active (Ie games that are more enjoyable when played in a passive control fashion) and also don't work with the controls particularly well. ( as the wii mote is actually a pretty shitty interface if you want to use a degree of skill/fine movements not spaz out )

Unfortunately We are going to have to put up with this shit for a good number of years.

Whats nice to see is that we have stuff like the novent falcon for the pc , and FFB wheels like the G25 these sorts of devices enable real emersoin and feed back from games, And fingers crossed within the next 5-10 years O.LED might get to the price point where we can finally have full 360 headsets that r comfortable and cheep to use.

God damn it. Why is the escapist's video streamer such a piece of crap. Every time I try and watch one of their vids either here or on their site it takes me about 5 attempts to get the stream to run. If the play ever hits the buffer it hangs. If I full screen it too soon it hangs. If the IT guys girl friend is holding out on him it hangs. Sick and tired of this shit. If it wasn't for Yatzee I would have written that amateurish site out of my life for good already. Why they can't just licence one of the halfway decent streamers from dailymotion or metacafe or any of the many tolerable video post sites around the web is beyond me. theescapist.com, suck a bag of dicks.

What kids like is not a good indicator of quality, and you know what is more fun than getting a bunch of friends over to play the Wii? Getting a bunch of friends over and NOT PLAYING THE FUCKING WII.

Heh, pretty much what I expected.

I too am guilty of using the Wii more as an emulator than anything else, and with Homebrew Channel I don't even have to pay for a botched up PAL-conversion of a classic NTSC game. That said there are some games that I enjoy more on the Wii than on anything else. Well, A game to be exact. I got my Motion+ bundled with the Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10, and while not perfect, it is the best golf game on any console or computer ever. Pretty much the only thing missing now is the height of the club from the ground, and if they decide to include that you're better of just playing real golf. Oh yeah, and they fucked up the spin thing, it's almost disabled if you use the Advanced Swing.

Aaaanyway, the truth is that Motion+ is something that should have been there from the beginning, it's a bit too late now. It makes such a huge difference to what the wiimote can do, but now it's kind of a moot point.

I still like my Wii and play it regularly. Too bad it couldn't live up to the hype.

Was that wii-cycling or Re-cycling? The second one sounds more interesting.
