antsays...Wow, Six Flags never recovered this one?

Wow, Six Flags never recovered this one?
Six Flags? Hell, NEW ORLEANS hasn't recovered. They had almost 500,000 people pre-Katrina. It's taken 5 years to get back above 300,000. 200,000 is a lot of rollercoaster rides.

I was thinking a live-action Left 4 Dead movie. As long as Uwe Boll doesn't direct it...
Truckchasesays...Sheesh that was overly creepy; anyone else sit waiting for the mushroom cloud?
Norsuelefanttisays...Shoot the clown!
Asmosays...Kinda reminds me of footage from the Chernobyl exclusion zone.
ps. Music is awesome, creepy/haunting.
juliovega914says...Way to go, six flags. Most of the infrastructure is completely intact. By giving up and selling for scrap, they are giving up an opportunity to invest in one of the most severely ravaged communities in the world. If they restored the park, it would continue to bring tourism and money from all over, which is really what New Orleans needs right now.
Croccydilesays...Six Flags was in no financial condition to try to fix the park though. Nobody really wanted to touch it anyways as it literally would entail rebuilding the entire park. The majority of of it was under a good 6'+ of water or so and all the buildings would have had to been torn down.
It likely would have cost double or even triple for what the park was worth to get it worthy again. Business decision.
On top of that, whatever they put up without redoing the entire lot of land would have been in the inevitable flood plane for the next hurricane that comes around. Nobody wants to be responsible for that.

Six Flags is having financial problems.

flechettesays...Now I know where I'm going to go metal detecting on my next big outing... right underneath all those roller coasters and freefalls.
Majortomyorkesays...The video became *dead as I was watching it. Godspeed You! Black Emperor would absolutely be my default choice for a post apocalyptic (or post Katrina) score.
