BSRHydraulics lift the assembly, and then slides it forward to set it on the ground. Then the base lifts up and slides forward and then lowers again to lift and slide the assembly forward again. Repeat. The interior view shows the movement. Sort of like a ratchet.
@newtboy can probably explain in fewer words.
