eric3579says...Behind the scenes https://vimeo.com/68291270 *doublepromote
siftbotsays...Double-Promoting this video and sending it back into the queue for one more try; last queued Saturday, March 28th, 2015 6:05pm PDT - doublepromote requested by eric3579.
RedSkysays...Pretty, but I have no idea what the point of it is.
newtboyjokingly says...Seemed more like a Monday to me.
kulpimssays...the point was to sell it to Warner Bros
Pretty, but I have no idea what the point of it is.
Babymechsays..."Story by"... nice job, if you can get it.
Enzobluesays..."what if.... you ask so many 'what if's' that people stop caring.....?"
Also they'll need to give royalties to the makers of Half Life for like.. every vehicle here.
LiquidDriftsays...Interesting, this seems to be a good strategy for successful funding - make a video that has good mood, interesting visuals and very vague gameplay/story. It's clever because the viewer has to fill in the blanks rather than the creator having to actually figure out the hard bits.
spawnflaggersays...I don't know what it is, but I love it. Will definitely see it when it comes out.
ChaosEnginesays...I don't see any story here at all. That's not to say there isn't one; the directors might have a great tale to tell, but right now this is a premise, not a story.
A great premise can lead to a great story, but it's far from guaranteed.
johncusick2says...him waking up from his dream and other scenes reminded me too much of the matrix and other movies. i was bored watching this whatever it was... rubbish.. yes rubbish. it was like the sort of nonsense the arty farty world would show in the tate modern
Retroboysays...Emo meets SF.
It's a nice job of inexpensive world building, and the visuals do a great tone-setting job, but I was expecting some kind of plot development for 15 minutes.
AeroMechanicalsays...I'm guessing "Dark City II: Dark World"
Only it has faceted shapes instead of spirals.
Paybacksays..."What if God's video card overheated?"
Ghostlysays...I saw the short first, and was curious enough to seek out the Kickstarter campaign. While the short looks nice and flashy, for me it fails to convey all that was given in the more intriguing synopsis at Kickstarter.
I hope that the excessive obscurity of the short is just a side effect of the director trying not to reveal too much of his concept, and that he will prove more capable when it comes to directing the full feature.
RFlaggsays...While the obvious comparison is Matrix, there is also some Dark City as well... and going back even further in time to a Twilight Zone episode called A Matter of Minutes where time is built one minute at a time... it explained why one minute something is one spot, not there, but when you recheck, there again, the builders of time simply forgot to put it back for the one minute. (That episode was based on Theodore Sturgeon's Yesterday Was Monday and duplicated somewhat in Stephen King's Langoliers). Here the problems end up errors that get duplicated and copy errors grow over time...
The Kickstarter description sounds a bit more in depth than the short here... https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1374452173/sundays-a-film-about-our-future/description
Xaielaosays...Guess I'm not the only one who sees this as basically a strait rip from Half Life 2 with a bit of the Matrix thrown in for good measure. Might as well call it City 17.
And yea the constant 'what if...' gets super annoying super fast.
Zawashsays...*quality
siftbotsays...Boosting this quality contribution up in the Hot Listing - declared quality by Zawash.
billybusseysays...Hella dork. This is not the future of sci fi. Try bringing it back away from sci fi and turn it into a real film that happens to be about sci fi. Soon no one will care about compositing effects. We will want real content pulled from real life.
StukaFoxsays..."If this is anyone but Terrence Malick, you're stealing my technique!"
