The driver behind flashed his lights and honked, to warn the oncoming truck.
The bus did not stop on an approved bus stop, and the transport company was looking into the incident.
But then again - this could easily have happened on a regular bus stop.
Some places, where there is quite a distance between each bus stop, the bus driver and parents agree to stop certain places between the bus stops.

Norwegian busses have always, since I was a kid, had warning labels "Do not cross the road before the bus has left". This is why.

Both the cammer and the trucker did awesome, but I give props to the truck's owner for obviously keeping up with their maintenance.

In US when school bus offload kids they have foldable stop sign where cars on both sides of the road must yeld to it.

Kids should cross the road IN FRONT of the bus and driver must wait for them to finish crossing.

Judging from the advertisement on the back, I think that was just a regular public transit bus and not a school bus. Though, maybe all buses should have that option for the rare times they're unloading unaccompanied kids.

Wyndersays...

In the US, the bus puts on flashing red lights to stop traffic going both ways. Children would be instructed to cross in front of the bus while traffic was stopped. That seems a lot more safe... thanks for the articles and insight!

Pretty sure that's no school bus, and the truck driver isn't breaking any traffic laws. So, not only would hitting the child not be murder (which is silly cuz definition of murder..) there would be no crime at all. The child however was jaywalking so...

Insane truck driver should have been going slow near a school bus. He almost murdered a child.

Comment hidden because you are ignoring dag.(show it anyway)

Them's some good breaks. I wonder if he had a load or was able to stop quickly because trailer was empty?
Sift of the week.

Don't they teach people how to cross the road anymore in school though? (I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't, with all of the cuts to public schools ......)

Every kind.

That's how kids come from the factory.
