It would be nice to see some actual game play, since that's what we'll be doing if we buy this game. Anyone can make fancy trailers and tell a story.

Yeah it would be nice, and that will come. Right now this is about hyping things up, which is what big games have to do to get a return on their investment.

Any news on the gameplay view?

You know how GTA3, Vice City, S.A. were all centered behind the player but in IV it was kinda "over the shoulder". Ruined the game for me. IS V going to be the same?

Funny how old games gave you a ton of options like that but modern ones are more restrictive for some reason.

There's just something about Rockstar's mocap that simply looks wrong. It always looks out of place and off-putting to me

Agreed, the environment and vehicles are beautifully rendered, but the characters look like crap.

I think it's more of a style. If it looks more realistic they lose a certain flair or ridiculousness which they like. Sort of like World of Warcraft which people whine about but I love how it looks.

It's not the lack of realism that bothers me, it just looks .... bad.
And it really jars with the environments.

TF2* doesn't look realistic but it still looks awesome.

yeah, I'm valves bitch. I'm comfortable with that

That's because one day an exec somewhere woke up and realized that all those options cost more money, execs usually suck.

GTAIV was a not-very-fun console game which ran like shit on consoles and PC alike. This looks a lot better based purely on the promo material - apparently the map is larger than GTAIV, Red Dead Redemption and San Andreas combined.

But it's still a console port.

ForgedRealitysays...

It looks like crap because it's on a console, you dickwags. It's super pixelated because it's probably 720p at best. In 6 to 8 months when it comes out on PC, it will look much, much better. Of course, it will still suffer from consolitis, and be ruined by horrid, invasive DRM, so it won't be worth playing, but at least it will look a lot better.

MonkeySpanksays...

I agree,
Take BF3 for example, if they went all the way trying to put digital photo skins on the models, it would look like zombies fighting. I am also of the strong belief that until you get the human emotions on a face down to a science, you should still stick with cartoonish characters instead. NHL 96 tried to look realistic back in on the PC; they stapled digital hockey players pictures on the low-polygon models, and boy, did it look like we were playing with lifeless Sears mannequins or what?

I love WoW models for the same absurd reason. Given the polygon low count of WoW, regardless of your MMO inclination, you have to admit that the art direction in that game is nothing short of phenomenal.

Have you guys played any 'Console ports' lately? Sleeping Dogs is outstanding on PC, Dishonored is likewise outstanding, and of course Skyrim is ten times better on PC. All these games were marketed for consoles, but their PC versions got a lot of love and it shows. Hell, even the latest Deus Ex was pretty awesome on PC.

I hear WoW on PC is also better... Ziiing!!
