Fainting Goat Kittens

charlie and spike are two kittens with myotonia congenita, otherwise known as 'fainting goat' syndrome. at the slightest sound, the kittens respond by collapsing and falling into a rigid paralysis which lasts about a minute before they return to normal. This condition has hardly ever before been diagnosed in a cat, is rarely found in dogs and is more common in goats. The kittens are able to walk, but they cannot run or jump. aside from this they are normal

I can't decide if this is the saddest or funniest thing I have ever seen. The hopeful, "I can overcome adversity" music probably pushes it a little farther onto the sadness side... But seriously. That is hilarious. And so sad.

Well stop scaring them so you can capture it on video, jerks!

The sad thing is it looks like they literally mean, ANY SOUND. It looks like one of them nudged a small bell with their nose and the sound triggered both of their paralysis. ( 0:56 mark)

Sad but hilariously funny at times as well...
I think President Bush has this syndrome as well...

I think, when you consider that they're not suffering, it's significantly less sad. They're not in pain and they're not aware that anything is wrong or that they're not "normal" kittens.

Also, Bush's case is clearly different. While myotonia congenita causes its sufferers to have uncontrollable muscle contractions at the slightest surprise, GWB seems to suffer from a condition that causes him to attempt genocide at the slightest surprise.

I can see the funny in this but the music just kills it. Maybe someone could redo the video with music and no I really have no clue what music would help and I know I'm now a horrible person who could never own these cats as I would be clapping hands or doing other things to make the cats faint for my own amusement.

Window seat please.

My trusty metro paper tells me this morning that one of the kitties have passed from respiratory failure as this condition also causes stiffness of the oesophagus making it difficult for them to eat or breath. Aww sweeties I wonder why the goats seemed ok...
