Barack Obama On Science And Charles Darwin

Let's hope he follows through.

This is such a wonderful thing, unfortunately there are a lot of people who just got "proof" that Obama is the anti-Christ. I can't help but think that Obama's acceptance of science will lead to a huge backlash from the young-Earth idiots.

I have a feeling that the coming economic problems will be blamed on Obama even though I doubt the situation could be avoided by anyone at this point.

It will be truly sad if those problems swing the country back into voting for social conservatives who convince people that secularist politicians are responsible for the economy. I'm hoping the scientific-minded people win out in the end.

Science will always win out in the end. The question is how long do you want to live in a dark age? I'm quite tired of it and happy to have an intelligent president again, thank you very much.

just the word "conservative" is anti-science. What are u conserving? The dark ages where the death of a cow means black magic, and black magic means drowning an burning women? When public execution is a pass time? When the only people in power are white? Its called progression and intellectual evolution. Do it.

Go Obama!

So why the hell haven't you reversed the ban on federal funding of embryonic stem cell research yet?!

He's been working on economic stuff. His administration has said that he will be reversing the ban "soon".

What about "fiscal conservative"?

They said the same thing during the transition period, i.e., that it would be one of the first things he did. It's an executive order, it would take ten minutes. It's not some complex legislation they need to craft. An L.A. Times article from a couple of days ago suggests that he's going to wait for Congress. Passing well crafted legislation on the issue is great, but in the meantime, he really needs to sign the damn executive order reversing Bush's policy.

The faith based initiative stuff mentioned in that article is also pretty alarming.

I know the guy has a lot on his plate at the moment, but there are a number of things like this that could be done quickly to reverse really bad policy set through executive orders by Bush, and they wouldn't have to distract from the "big" issues.

This could be the first step in humans realising the situation we're in and trying to better it, rather than sitting in squalid mediocrity, content in the rut we're in. There's a lot of people who want us to be in this unchanging perpetuity because they make a lot of money out of it. Maybe we're seeing the first step that we're better than that.

While I Did see him commemorate the memory of Charles Darwin, I saw no indication of endorsing his views. Not that it is needed. The US would rather hold hands with religion than science. Then plot Harmageddon like it says in the bible. Then forget to forgive the communists. And take it home, knowing that they alone created the new Dark Ages, and not Iran.

God yeah... I get that sinking feeling. In a sad way I feel like this was the worst time he could have been elected because he'll probably end up the scapegoat.

"Let's hope he follows through."

Why would anyone want the president of the USA to shit himself?
What does that have to do with this video?

Mind you I'm posting this just before watching the video, so my mind may be changed later. Will report back in a minute...

Yep OK I agree. I do hope he follows through. I mean I've absolutely nothing against the guy at all. He's intelligent, clearly understands his game, very successful and inspiring. The whole world seems to be a better place just for his being in office, but maybe this is what we need now. We need the comedy. We need him to come down a peg or two. This lack of foolish behaviour maybe makes him seem too elitist.
A president trying to ease out a sly one whilst touching cloth and the inevitable embarrassment and clean up might be just enough to make him seem less like a superhero and more flawed and human.
Got to hand it to you Haldaug that's some serious thinking outside the box there, but you've won me over to this idea.
Let's hope he cracks open the beans and sails too close to the wind.

OK, English is not my first language. I simply had to do a follow-through on that one and check out http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=follow+through
At first I thought westy's comment was just a typical westy-comment, bereft of meaning, spelling, syntax and punctuation, but he actually followed through on that one.
Kudos to mrk871 for spilling the beans to me and making me see what I really meant to say.

I think it's OK to say "follow through with x" to express what you intended, but just "follow through" seems to sound more like the other meaning, although other people may differ in how they interpret it. Btw, by no means was my post a sarcastic dig at your language skills or a simple "Ha ha, you made a mistake". I just found the 2nd meaning amusing.
