I downvoted your video because your description wrongly conflates saying that two similar looking people look similar with being racist. That's why I downvoted it, BOTH times you posted it.
Yes, I noticed you killed it and reposted it to attempt to erase the vote count....that's not how the sift works. I might have downvoted it just for that if I hadn't had a better reason.

A downvote doesn't prevent people from seeing your vid, although if you have the list sorted by hotness it will move it a long way down. I always view unsifted sorted by age, oldest first.

I watched your vid, but as I'm neither a fan of Maher or of the opinion that you shouldn't have posted the vid, I moved on without voting either way.

I'll second the comments above, there is no conspiracy here, it's just how the sift works.

I am somewhat surprised that this discussion has, with one notable exception, remained mostly civil.

But you are wrong. My video was suppressed and not visible on ANY of the sifts 'channels'. So a downvoted video not given the chance to 'air' can be killed by a downvote.

Videos DO NOT disappear with a downvote. The sift is not built for the possibility for that to happen. It takes two days for a video to leave the unsifted area and be put into your pq. But go ahead keep digging your heals in.

I think I understand where you're getting confused.

At the bottom of the page is a link to "next page", but it looks like there is only one page (even if there are many).

Here is a screenshot of the top of page 2 of unsifted, sorted as shown, and with your vid clearly shown. The very top video on page 1 was Erik's downvote test.

If you reverse the sorting from the default "best views to votes" to the inverse, "worst views to votes", you'll find your vid rises to the top.

I think:
- @billpayer posted a video that was calling out racism where it was not.
- He received a down-vote.
- He failed to be able to find his post afterwards.
- Instead of contacting @lucky760 to see if there was a glitch, he killed and re-posted.
- He was accused of doing something unethical to cover-up a down-vote.
- Then people proceeded to down-vote where, they may have normally just not-voted.

Then a whole pile of other accusations, and in-fighting started.

So, lets get to the problem here.
Is there a defect with the mechanism?
1). The Sift IS failing to indicate additional pages, I've noticed this quite a bit lately.
2). I've also noticed that the sift pages can't decide if they want to use the new format or the old one. I seem to get them both randomly on each page - no pattern that I've noticed. This tends to confuse how we are seeing things.
3). The information that used to be at the bottom of the page, which indicated who has up-voted or down-voted is missing. We can no longer tell who has voted in which direction.

As far as the Racist thing...
The two people in the photos do look the same.
Bill Mahar was more making fun of One Direction and Zayn Malik to the fact that we don't care, because he's just not that big of a star to care.

Context: I'm guessing that the reason he made the comparison is that rumor going around is that Zayn Malik quit One direction to join ISIS. In fact, it was even updated on his Wikipedia page by someone.

I had no idea that the additional pages were not loading for some people, they always do for me. I'm glad you've told Lucky.
EDIT: I do only see an arrow for the last page, not a number, which is odd but works.

For the record, hovering doesn't bring the vote info up for me.
I'm using the latest version of Firefox on a Mac.

-NO, it works as intended. New format when viewing individual videos. All other pages old style. Also you can opt out of new format if you would like(bottom of the page)

1). So the answer is, YES, it is "failing" to indicate page numbers.
Clicking the arrow works, but it is supposed to indicate page numbers.
Example.: on the "Newest Video" page. there are page numbers.
on the "upcoming videos" page - no page numbers.

2). sure okay - It seems to be working now, as you say. I may have been mistaking individual pages with the featured video page which shows the video on the old format. It's distracting jumping back and forth. but I see what you are saying.

3). just doesn't work for me. (as I commented above.)

Thanks for your help though. They may be very little things, but as the SIFT grows and becomes more complex, inconsistencies become more noticeable.

Hmmm. That's odd. you should probably inform lucky of that. It works that way for me on win-doze and IE, and I think it's intended to work that way on all browsers.
You are trying on the video's page, not on the front page or unsifted video page, yes? It only works on the video's page.

For the record, I've just tried at home as well.
Doesn't work on my home computer either.

Same system though - Newer OS but Mac running newest Firefox.

@billpayer - I know I'm late to the party and it's been reiterated above repeatedly, but I just wanted to clarify that:

A) Yes, the page #2 link is not showing up in the pagination for some reason and that will be addressed/corrected asap.

B) Your video is not being suppressed, just incidentally appears on that second page to which you weren't clicking through.

C) Everyone who is able to down-vote a video is permitted to do so if they have watched the video and dislike its content, and they, like you, are not required to explain the reason for their down-vote.

I just want to be crystal clear that there's no conspiracy against you or your video, nor is anyone breaking the rules with an honest down-vote. Sorry for the confusion.
