Two babies being saved from a hot, locked car

"Kids locked in a dangerously hot car were saved by a group of skaters and some good samaritans. The parents locked there keys in the car and left there two 1-2 year olds in the car alone. Filmed at Crossroads Park in Bellevue Washington." - YouTube

You can't seriously have just said that...>> ^mxxcon:
And that's why everybody needs to have a Window Breaker in their car.

mxxcon's statement makes sense to me.
obviously it wouldn't help if the window-breaker was in the locked car with the babies, but if someone in the 2-3 cars nearby had a window-breaker, the job would have been much faster. Not sure where the random dude with the huge pipe came from...

I was surprised at how ineffective the skateboards were. A window-breaker (or even centerpunch tool) breaks tempered glass much faster and safer.

I didn't mean for that car owner to use theirs.
Didn't you see there were other open cars nearby? Hence my statement that everybody needs to have one in their car. If not for your own use, but to help others.
Geez, was my statement that ambiguous?

Holy crap, panic much? Call the police, they'll get there in a few minutes and get your kid out. If for some reason you think the temperature in your car has rocketed to brain melting temperatures in the 2 minutes that it took you to lock your keys in the car and find a phone, just get someone to open their trunk and pull out a tire iron which is heavy, hard, and most importantly has a small surface area to strike with. Skateboards spread out their force and the wood wobbles too much.

Bellevue is like 15 minutes away from me. What the fuck? Nobody had AAA? Call them, they'll be there in 10 minutes and have the door open in 2 minutes, for free. Without breaking any windows. And without cops. You'd think someone in Bellevue would have that shit as rich as you have to be to live there...

I don't get why parents would leave their children in the car. I know it happens hundreds of times each year, but I still don't understand why.

Perhaps it's because the babies are heavy and physically tire out the mom. Strollers are an option but it's a bit of an hassle to load the babies if you're dropping off some mail or depositing a check for less than 5 minutes. Hence why parents choose to leave the kids behind in the car.

Leaving the kids behind the car for a short period of time isn't such a terrible thing, but being careless and rushing things often makes it much worse. The parent forgot to check her keys nor leave her windows cracked open.

I don't know who the parent was but I'm assuming they were rushing to complete a task in panic mode, forgot to take the necessary safety measures and locked the babies in the car. Then he/she came back to the car with the same mentality as he/she was dealing with his/her task. Perhaps the high-strung parent should take a chill pill and do things one at a time.

Love some of the comments from the skaters

- "I think we should get some ice"
- "...For the baby?"
- "Yeaaah"

and

- "Why didn't they just unlock the fucking car?"

Keypad entry.....never locked my keys in the car on accident....but I hope in the future every vehicle I own has one. It's great for warming up your car and locking it while you go back inside instead of having multiple sets of keys or remote starters (which you have to remember to leave the heater on anyway.....on most vehicles).

@smooman, do you have kids?

no i dont, not any of my own anyway. i do have two nieces for what its worth. but before you say it, cuz i know youre gonna, the fact that i do or do not have kids holds no relevance to the fact that Legacy0100 justified leaving children in a hot car because "theyre too heavy and strollers are a hassle". if kids are too heavy and strollers are too much of a "hassle" what fucking god damn business would you have having kids in the first place?

Calm down smooman. Let me start off by saying that we all have different values and standards.

I am someone who thinks It's impractical to constantly have a baby strapped to your body. Parents are human too, and they tire out. When you tire out, you become irritant, and make bad judgments. It's best to avoid such situations and take advantage of the powers of modern technology.

Some people aren't as physically fit as you are, but they are just as loving to their children as you perhaps one day would be. So are these parents unprepared to have a kid if they are not physically fit to carry or roll around a baby for long duration?

Perhaps you should cool your jets and think about what being a good parent is about.

As long as you are a good parent, you would not let your would make sure that your car isn't dangerously hot for your child. As long as you are a smart parent, you wouldn't have to carry or roll around your baby 24-7. As long as you are a prepared parent, you would not freak out over every minute detail that does not go your way or is different from how your next door neighbor does it.

Perhaps you'd see things differently in the near future, who knows.

Thanks for your input.

"man, ive had this baby on my hip alllll day. whew im beat! but ive still got a ton of errands to run. here, i'll just set him down right here on this street corner and i'll be back in 2 minutes"

look, i know there are no perfect parents (because there's no perfect people) and as such we fuck up from time to time. parenting is an ever changing, constant learning session. the difference being, you are justifying the fuck ups with idiotic nonsense. leave your baby alone, in a stifling car, which i might add is far more dangerous for young children/babies, because theyre too much of a hassle for you? theyre kids! not fucking albatrosses! that shows an abject lack of any shred of parental responsibility on your part. seriously, i sincerely hope you do not have kids

think about what being a good parent is all about......hmmmmm...... how about putting your kids first in everything that you do. leaving a child in a blistering car because he/she is just too much of a damn hassle for you to be carrying around while you got more important things to do, sure sounds like putting the child first to me.
