Golden Eagle Snatches Kid

A golden eagle tries to snatch a baby in Montreal! -yt

I think it's fake, something about the shadow of the eagle that makes me do a double take. Also, Golden Eagles are not native to Montreal and I think we'd hear about this on the news.

An interesting social experiment is to toss it on Facebook, with some blurb about how animals are fighting back against humanity, then see how far the nutjobs take it. =)

Eagles are extremely prevalent in Canada. I see them daily, swap out " golden eagle " with " shit stained Eagle of canada " and maybe it is more believable ? ?

My former boss' wife who does cow birthing said a big problem that piss' farmers off is Eagles that take away new born cows out in the field/open.

Eagles eat children, its a fact.

True, they are prevalent, but Eagles aren't usually common to Quebec in December. They're usually out in the bush and away from metropolitan areas. I still call fake on it.

What part of Canada do you live in where you see them daily?

Harpy eagles regularly prey on monkeys that aren't much smaller than a toddler and are known to have preyed on proto-humans, based on fossil evidence. In those cases, they tend to be snatched up by the head with the talons penetrating into the brain via the ocular sockets.

Ah, falconry.

Maybe fake, but look around the web to find videos of golden eagles trying to take small humans. Usually by trying to drop them off cliffs in Mongolia, however. Also not sure about Quebec, but golden eagles are found through much of Canada, but less prevalent than the more common baldies. If real, good thing that kid was hitting the poutine enough that the eagle could only get it about 1m off the ground.

I can understand how some parents miss MOST things. But a fucking eagle trying to take your kid in your peripheral vision? Dad either has tunnel vision or reflexes like a sloth. He's lucky the eagle lost it's grip!

Oh also we should BAN ALL EAGLES because they are a danger to our children!!!

Eagles do pick up animals heavier than that kid so this isn't out of the question. Looking at it slower I would have to say it is real or it is better motion matching than any special effect I have seen in any modern film to date.

I'm not doubting eagles couldn't do this or that they don't live in Canada. I've been knocked over by an eagle on the west coast when someone threw their salmon left overs after cleaning it.

What I am saying is: Golden Eagles aren't found in Montreal, usually. Falcons, hawks, smaller raptors, yes. Eagles that size would make new in Montreal even before it started picking off kids. =)

you just don't notice the good vfx. this is by no means a crazy vfx shot. also, the footage getting crushed by youtube compression helps a lot.

There is a report showing a brief "making of" of the NAD Centre students' work at this link. Its in French but the CGI screens tell all. At some point, a bird specialist explains the feather pattern is impossible on this kind of bird. And at the end, we learn that their teacher promised them they would get a perfect grade (100%) if they attained 100,000 views, with their video...

Now there's a video that would be funny. Have video of someone attaching a flux capacitor to a peregrine falcon and film it in a dive. Add some FX and *blam* fire trail in the sky. Watch the Peta people freak out =)

BoneRemakesaid:

It might work best with a Peregrine Falcon as they are more prone to overcoming 88mph. Now to get a flux capacitor attached to it.
