I'm thankful that exclusive titles are growing less and less now, because everything they announced pretty much guarantees I won't be purchasing it.

Sad to say, but don't be surprised when Sony announces the PS4 won't support used games either. They may be competitors, but competitors often plan such things to better control the market, and the second-hand games market is a massive source of revenue that I'm sure both manufacturers would love to see eliminated.

The presentation wasn't terrible, it was just full of "who gives a shit?" TV features? Don't give a shit. More Kinect? Never gave a shit in the first place. Halo tv series? Unless it's a game, don't give a shit. Sports games? REALLY don't give a shit. Call of Doody MW4? Stopped giving a shit a while ago

Honestly though... That about sums up my feelings from any trade show exposition. They are always pomp and circumstance, and have never gotten a rise out of me. Maybe the initial Wii unveiling, because it was something truly different and promising.

What cracks me up is ... people still watch TV??? That really seems like a Darwinian failure to pursue such a dying medium with a device created to support a superior one.

Also, it restricting used games isn't rumour anymore. You have to install games and then that disc is locked to your account. If you buy a used game, you have to pay MS, i think they said $10, to be able to then lock it to a different account. To be honest, that's not so bad, it's not like Nintendo where it's locked to a fucking console instead of an account, and you can change it. I just wonder if the publishers get the money or if MS hogs it all.

The worst news is that they will not be supporting Indie devs beyond what they do with the 360. Typical short sighted move by MS. If PS4 supports indies like Steam and Apple does, there's a massive potential there!

To be honest I've never been into used games that much so whatever DRM they're cooking up is not an issue for me personally. But of course the principle is the issue here.
The requirement to tie games into your account is egregious. What if they did this with Blurays? Would that fly with the general populace?

And if there's really this 'no used game' feature, I guess gamefly won't be supporting them. There's a reason right there to not buy one. It seems to me that they implemented a huge number of features that I (and maybe most others) just don't care about at all, or even dislike. I don't want to pay for the ability to watch TV or integrated Kinect (there's a reason I never bought it).

I sure hope they come out with the non-Kinect, non-disk tied, non-TV watching version for the rest of us soon, or we'll all have a ps4 and simply reminisce about playing Halo and Gears. HUGE misstep.

I build tons of gaming PCs, that's my prime way of gaming. I want to play GTA and MGS and Destiny so I'll have to buy me a console. I don't hate on consoles like most PC players, they have their place.

They pretty much always play coy when it comes to announcing whether or not there will be a PC version of major AAA title like GTA. It's all about seeing how many people they can sucker into buying a new system just to play that one game. Honestly I don't really care what you play your games on, Xbox, Playstation, Nintendo, PC, an abacus, I really don't give a fuck. I think people are just tired of being jerked around by manipulative assholes and being treated like chumps, that's where a lot of the anger comes from.
There are also certain games I don't find fun on a console, like FPS games, you can make the worlds most awesome FPS ever and if it can only be played with a control pad then I will not touch it, ever.

I like both. I absolutely LOVE Half Life and everything to do with that universe, I'll play it forever I don't even care if they release Half Life 3 (but seriously motherfuckers release the damn game!). That being said, I love Halo too, it's a great series. I don't mind that I have to play it with a joystick, it's just another challenge. I don't play PC games because I like to point and click more than joystick it, I play whatever games are good.

I prefer FPS on the PC - using a joystick is just frustrating. But then again I couldn't imagine playing Little Big Planet on a PC. (although the Xbox 360 controller works great for many PC games, and it's nice that Steam is trying a joystick-friendly interface for big-tv-attached-PC-gaming.)

The thing I really hate is that both Xbox 360 and PS3 support USB keyboards and mice. It's completely up to the developers to include that in their game or not. I got a reply once from the makers of Resistance, and the reason they said they didn't include it was because it would make it unfair for multiplayer... well how about Single Player? or have a server setting that would allow/disallow keyboard+mouse?

I believe the difficulty needs to be tweaked when a console FPS gets ported over to the PC because mouse users have a much easier time hitting targets. So using a mouse in single player would be another balance issue.
Also programming in mouse support is just more time and money that the developer has to spend and with a console why bother if you don't have to.
Like you said eariler though, I play Batman Arkham Asylum and City on the PC and when I play it I just plug in a 360 controller and I'm good to go, lets hear it for versatility.

I just recently discovered you can easily get old Nintendo ROMs to run with an emulator on your computer and what seems like every old NES game is freely available for download. I can't wait to receive the USB Nintendo controllers I just ordered so I can get into some classic, good games, not like all the crap they're shoveling nowadays.

I can't wait for my boys to be old enough to start enjoying them, especially Super Mario Bros. Just too bad Duck Hunt is no longer an option.

Call of Duty and Battlefield have forever ruined shooters on ALL platforms. They've intentionally capitalized and completely monetized the market so that you HAVE to keep buying their games. There is never a time when a piece of DLC or another brand new version of the game is coming out.
