The Dumbest Woman On The Highway

Apparently, this chick never heard of a tow truck and actually thinks she is filming at semi speeding down the highway in reverse at 70mph. (From Break)
mizilasays...

Great gag, find one of these semi's gettin towed on a long road trip while you're buddy is asleep in the passenger seat. Then get right up behind (in front) of the semi and start freaking out. Waking up staring down a big-rig at 70 miles an hour is hilarious.

shuacsays...

^Point taken...but what's the likelihood that this woman is a big believer in science and demonstrable evidence? You think she's keeping up on LHC news, do you? Can she accurately describe the various theories on why the bees seem to be disappearing?

Yeah I hate to make harsh generalizations, but anybody this stupid must be a <insert sterotypical group you dislike here>.

Doesn't work with every group that people like to dislike and stereotype... The majority of the group must be dumbasses who would fail basic third grade science, or even basic common sense 101. For example, while many people around the world hate jews, no one would think a Jew shrewd enough to divest you of all you own yet at the same time stupid enough to think a semi is running in reverse at 70 mph on the "35, going north" (guess the semi must be going north-south?).

Also, a car's not going faster than you are just because its in front of you, dumbass.

Majortomyorkesays...

Even if she initially thought the truck was driving in reverse @ 70 MPH, it's reasonable to expect that she would realize what it actually is at an off-ramp or a turn in the road.

I'm guessing someone found her video and struck internet gold.

And one of the most dangerous anecdotes i've heard

And those things are characteristics of <specific sterotypical group>? You can find anti scientific, backwards hicks of every race and religion. Shuoldn't it be clear by now that stupidity knows no bounds?

Don't be stupid. You don't have to be a fucking atheist to follow LHC news.

Asshole.

You guys going on about her accent and her intelligence and whether she's a devout Christian or not are missing the most important fact:

That guy has MAD skillz keeping it going that smooth. I wish I could drive that well forwards!

It's ignorant comments like this that make VS hard to stomach at times. I get that you think Christians are stupid people, but there's no evidence that she is of any particular faith. Many people here criticize those who choose a life of faith because they are willing to accept things that aren't based on evidence. If I follow the reasoning correctly, since these people make assumption that aren't based on science they must be morons. Yet here you are making guesses of your own that are just mean and close-minded.

To top it all off, all the rest of you APPLAUD this kind of crude, moronic remark? I'm sorry, but considering the prejudice nature, it might as well be racism.

Liberals don't see it that way. Only White people can be racist, only the religious can be dumb, etc. The "open-minded" among us walk a thin rigid cable of orthodoxy.

And the village atheist is always good for a laff, just not an intentional one.

I don't think any particular school of thought has a corner on being close-minded.

Don't be offended...I just know how to get a freebie star point. I sell my soul for star points all the time. It's S.O.P. 'round here.

Ever notice how on the Simpsons, whenever they want to make someone sound really stupid, they give them a Southern accent?

"I wash myself with a rag on a stick."

Get off you're fucking high horse. There's always one douche that's gotta stand up and feel self-righteous and defend, for whatever reason, some person they don't even know for being a dumbass. It's more annoying than the blatent racism in youtube comments. Like it or not, stereotypes are true for a reason. Nobody wants to get pegged to a stereotype because it strips them of their "individuality". But when you look at the numbers, with an accent like that, she is most likely Christian. The fact that you AUTOMATICALLY thought that I was referring to her lack of intelligence (which I was) makes you just as guilty as I.

Just because I don't want to tolerate that kind of remark doesn't mean I'm on a "high horse". I don't make these kinds of remarks to defend anyone or build up myself, but instead in hopes that we don't make these kind of remarks in the future. I don't particularly think Christians are stereotyped as stupid, except when I listen to atheists discuss the subject. On that point, stereotypes are often NOT true. As far as my impression of your comment, I think it's pretty clear what you had in mind. Just because I can follow someone else's line of thinking doesn't mean I share it.

rottenseedsays...

point is you had an assumption which either fell in line with my stereotypical thinking or your stereotype of atheists. I'd relate my comment more to being a dickhead atheist than being an atheist. And yes, stereotypes are more often than not, true and stereotyping is a part of our nature. Don't fight it or act like it doesn't exist even within the confines of your own skull.

[edit] no more, let's take it to the bedroom for any further discussion. (PM me if need be)

mauz15says...

"Like it or not, stereotypes are true for a reason."

Stereotypes are true? Hahaha since when does an uneducated generalization has any strong truth value?

The very logic (if any) of a stereotype defeats the concept itself. A generalization about ALL members of a group or category based solely on first impressions or commonly held assumptions in society; oh yeah I'm sure something like this is valid.

Stereo + typos = Solid IMPRESSION

are impressions true? probably
Is an impression about a group of people true considering the enormous amount of factors and variables in a person's life? good luck proving that.

It is not that "stereotypes are true for a reason" it is that stereotypes EXIST for a reason which in part is this:
Availability heuristic a mere cognitive shortcut so that our limited brain can "make sense" of reality.

just because a certain thing is more likely to take place does NOT make a weak assumption true.

"But when you look at the numbers, with an accent like that, she is most likely Christian. The fact that you AUTOMATICALLY thought that I was referring to her lack of intelligence (which I was) makes you just as guilty as I."

Nice language play, it could work if this was Congress but the intent is clear on that first post you made.

,

Dude... traveling on a long trip many moons ago...I was the passenger...asleep...the driver thought nothing of it.
He was just behind the tow truck, 'ya know...
Of course I woke up. All I remember was thinking "whoa, shit!" and putting my feet up on the dashboard (like that was gonna do any good!) within a split second. The driver freaked out momentarily then started laughing at me when he realized what happened. THAT was a trip.

HenningKOsays...

If she had got any closer, she would have noticed not only was it going backwards at 70 MPH, but also that there was no driver.
And a new government conspiracy theory is born!
