eric3579says...Side impact
lucky760says...Lacking an engine makes a huge difference.
I heard it scored 5.4 stars out of 5 and it rates better than other types of vehicles, even minivans and SUVs.
[edit]
Whoa, that first slow-mo of the side impact is incredible the way the windows hover shattered in place as the car flies back away from them. Thanks for embedding, @eric3579.
Januarisays...Honestly this isn't usually the kind of thing i follow, but i'm really still waiting to hear something that makes this car NOT sound too good to be true.

siftbotsays...Adding video to channels (Timeshift) - requested by Trancecoach.
deathcowsays...If you were rich, I would totally buy me one of these Tesla sedans.
HugeJerksays...The price.

VoodooVsays...The price? and not enough infrastructure (charging stations) to support interstate travel
I think most people would scoop these things right up once those issues are resolved and I know they're already working on the infrastructure.

scheherazadesays...IIRC, $60k for the base model, isn't bad.
You'll pay $55k for a fully loaded crew cab pickup - and those things are all over the place like ants.
Gotta say, I'd consider one... if I can ever break the sports car habbit.

harlequinnsays...0:58 - it looks as though the whole lower rear seat dislodges. Better view at 1:07. It looks like they unbolted it and it's covered in cables and tape.
chingalerasays...Sounds like someone wants to get into their first real car crash...

L0ckysays...Also the side airbags appear to fully deploy before the glass has even finished breaking.
Impressive stuff.

deathcowsays...Explosions are fast. I wonder if an airbag explosion would be dangerous at that proximity without the bag to contain it.

RFlaggsays...Price yes. Infrastructure I don't know. The Tesla branded charging stations, escpecially their Super Chargers, aren't readily available enough yet, but Charge Points are available in plenty for a car with Tesla's range, and they got an adapter to accept Charge Point. I'm not sure how the Chevy/Nissan dealers would take to people parking their Tesla at one of their charge points (based on what I've read it can be hit or miss, and call ahead is generally requested either way). Of course those chargers take a long time compared to Tesla's own chargers. I would guess the network will be in place by the time they release their Blue Star... their sub $30k family car.

eric3579says...And if you want more Tesla and or model S (National Geographics - Megafactories)
kevingrrjokingly says...Sorry but Volvo's are the safest cars. No one has ever died in a Volvo. One man lived inside a Volvo for 150 years, when he got out he died, fast. Like Indiana Jones melting nazi face fast.
Science.
Yogisays...My dad bought one and the more I hear about it the more it sounds awesome. I just love long distance road trips too much to think about an electric car, but that doesn't mean it's not really cool cause it is.

skinnydaddy1says...Anyone else notice on the side impact the lights came on? Is that a safety thing?
Paybacksays...Most cars now have their hazards come on with any airbag deployment, probably same idea.

Paybacksays...0-60 in 4.2 seconds. Centre of gravity several hundred feet below ground.(I hyperbolize, but it rides on rails, a friend test drove one)
And seating for you and 6 of your friends...
Gotta say, I'd consider one... if I can ever break the sports car habbit.
