It's coming to the ballot in State of Washington. The anti-gay folks wanted to write the language in such a way that would be biased this way. The courts ruled against them. Said the language must be neutral.

Apparently they didn't go through the court process in North Carolina.

The vote is today.

I hope the amendment is crushed. Crushed into oblivion.

but srsly, what a perfect speech. Fair to say there is a lot of homophobia in the black and gospel communities, which is a shame given their history of fighting for civil rights. Few more preachermen like this guy and that might change. Good sift.

Even if your premise is true, how does that make african americans different from white americans? As I recall, AAs aren't going around sponsoring laws and bank rolling initiatives banning marriage in every state they can.>> ^Jinx:

We've seen a lot of yes-men - is this the first of an era of Mmmm-men?

It passed it easily. There are more states with anti-gay marriage laws than supportive gay marriage laws.

I saw that and said out loud -- I am embarrassed to be an American. What the fuck.

It is like living with the Taliban and pretending we aren't.

I have a friend in NC who has been posting about this on Facebook all morning. One of his posts has this comment from one of his female friends:
