Bob Ross: Painting Clouds

Bob Ross on how to paint clouds.

This is probably too simplistic an answer but yes they act like buffering refractors of color from the light as the sun descends and arises.>> ^Unsung_Hero:

Do clouds have hints of red in them in nature? (This is a serious question, I'm colorblind)

>> ^Mazex:

ok we got happy little clouds, but where's the angry black clouds full of menace and death, he's painting a one sided picture of clouds

The two rarely hang out in the same room together, so one could argue that he's painting a realistic portrayal of cloud parties.

I wonder if anybody has actually learned how to paint from this guy. I'm not denying that his show was fascinating and relaxing and informative. I just want to know if anybody actually watched his show, with an easel and their brushes and followed him along to create their own masterpieces. Or was there just a world watching him, enamored by his magic.

I don't remember seeing this guy until I was much older. The guy that I remember had a German accent I believe and used to use big house painting brushes. Every time at one point it looked like he had messed the painting up but it always came out looking great in the end.

To this day I still record Bob Ross every week on the TIVO and take a nice Sunday nap by falling asleep to his voice. His soothing speech, the tap of the brush on the canvas... Bob Ross is like Saruman - he can say anything and it sounds good.

For me it's when he busts out with the knife.. instant -_- zZ zZ zZ zZ

Okay, I may sound stupid here, but are you referring to Rolf Harris? He's Australian but often painted with large brushes and had the catchphrase "Can you tell what it is yet?".

I don't have a great example video to show, but if it was him, this might ring a bell.

Is it really Bob Ross?

Or is it our deity, PROVING intelligent design?!??!!?
>> ^Stingray:

I used to watch Bob Ross on PBS when I was a kid. I was always intrigued how he made a blank canvas come to life.

Look: Proof! The canvas was inanimate, then it was born into life!
