Do you play WoW?

Gwiz665 and I are playing Horde on Lightning Hoof, US! We'd love for any Sifters to join us.

I've got a fancy guild with fancy bank tabs and fancy mats for your leveling pleasure.

I would be willing to help you out with my fancy level 80!

My main's name is Lallu. She's a lonely troll priest looking for someone to hold hands with and take long walks on the beaches of Darkshore, admiring the corpses of newly dead night elves.

See you there, hopefully!

[WoW=World of Warcraft, but if you didn't know that, chances are this Sift Talk isn't for you.]

I play very sporadically now, mainly to hang with friends, but I was a big wow-head for the first 2-3 years there. I went from Shadow Council to Emerald Dream when the RP-PVP servers opened up.

Now I'm finally back to playing non MMO'ish games when I have the time. Though all that, I predict, will end again when Old Republic goes live.

I always play humans in RPG's so yeah.. I'm alliance, deal with it.

Oh and my name here is rather related to my original main WoW character (it was his nick name, in an RP sort of way).

I used to play on Balnazzar-EU, but I quit before this summer. I've restarted with UP in Lightninghoof-US (I had to buy the damn game again!) and it's still fun. After I had a quick foray into Warhammer Online, I see that WoW has begun to take the good things from WAR and implemented them in WoW. With Cataclysm, guilds will begin to level as well, which seems very interesting.

They steal from Lord of the Rings Online a ton too, the guild leveling for instance. Also little things, LotR's had the same exact haircut system WoW now uses about 10 months before WoW implemented it. There's a bunch more.

I played LotR's solid for almost a year, it's surprisingly good if you don't mind a lack of pvp. The crafting system is actually fun, and many of the early level quests have mini-instances that tell tightly scripted events that tie in to the big story arc your character goes through. Very immersive at times.

I just can't go there...
After the whole Diablo II thing, that took me almost five years to kick - and awe man was I good...

I'm swearing off the gamming for a bit and by the way, that's what brought me here, it gave me a reason to "not" log on and go MFing with my Zon! (*glancing over at my Diablo II Expansion disk...)

Edit: Also, Diablo II was free to play, I expect my marriage would end if I started WOW!

UsesProzac: I wish I would have had Wow, when my son was born, it would have given me something to do while sitting up with him in the night - What I did have was every season of Angel, Buffy and Farscape on DVD and the Space Channel (total TV overload)

**Also note, "I" was the one putting my son to bed and getting up with him, every night, not my wife - no breast feeding was done - she refused! (same, when my daughter was first born!) Once she gave birth - she was done with them - Postpartum is getting much better now 8 & 12 years later.)
PS: don't tell her I told you

See, this is one of the problems with WoW being so popular -- anytime you run into someone who plays it, odds are they're on a different server than you. I'm on Uldum.

Yeah, no way in hell I'm starting another yet another toon on yet another server. Not that I wouldn't want to play with ya'll, but I blow enough of my time on that game as it is O_O.

NERDS!
Never played it. Never will. I have enough time sinks in my life; I don't need to be adding to them.

You and I both. I've never subscribed to that drugless addiction...not gonna start now. In fact I don't even have a facebook. I figure by now, I've not had it for so long now, I have to keep up my reputation.

Yup, videosift is the only way I stay connected with you nerds.

Have a priest on Stormrage in Militis Justica. Only now starting to level an alt. Carbonite's a great mod for that.

I tried out Aion, and it's really beautiful... the interface is a downright WOW-clone so it's great, but the game is like beating your head against a wall and WoW has a humor I can't get enough of.

KnivesOut says...

@Doc_M: What a small world, I was a member of Militis Justica on Stormrage (was part of a guild called Silver Blades that got absorbed into MJ around 2005/2006.) I quit before Burning Crusade came out.

Now I'm playing LoTRO on Brandywine. IMHO LoTRO is far superior to WoW, mainly for the crafting systems.

I made a conscious decision back in the year 2000 never to play MMOs because I would just get addicted and waste my life. I'm pretty familiar with WOW through cultural osmosis, listening to PC gaming podcasts, etc. Looking back on my use of the last 10 years (I defy you to find anyone who has wasted their life/potential as thoroughly as I have), I may as well be a level 80 guild leader camped out at Best Buy for the expansion apck.
