Not quite risky enough rail grind (cable grind)

Closed ski area (for the season), chair lifts with cables, a paraglider, skis and probably a GoPro.

Not even sure what risk category to put this into.

Yes, he appears quite good at what he's doing; but only a young man would believe that the margins for what he's doing are acceptable.

Edit: Typo in title
2nd edit: Hive mind didn't like the way the way the video was described and I agree with their criticism

Definitely not snuff... Especially considering he like, didn't even wipe out.

And another thing, he's obviously the chair lift technician. That's how they check the cable.

True story.

SFOGuysays...

LOL. yes, that would explain why it's a 12 year apprenticeship to become a chair lift technician in Switzerland...if in fact, it were a 12 year apprenticeship...

The fact that he made that little loop at the end just so he could dramatically decrease his altitude rather than just keep on gliding tells me that this person was extremely skillful and knew full well what they were doing at every moment.

Not even remotely close to being snuff, and I think the camera added to the effect of making some of those moments *seem* like they were closer calls than they ever were...

This is no amateur. Of course there's a risk. Anything of an extreme nature has a risk. But I wouldn't go so far as to single this out as ignorant, nor call out the word "snuff" even if it were possible.

All of these types of stunts have potential for snuff but there's no need to put it in your description. When I drop in or roll in to an empty pool with my skateboard, there's always a chance I could die or be seriously injured, but I haven't yet and even the wipe outs are usually alright, maybe a broken bone every 5-15 years.

Anyway, maybe I will die on my board one of these days, but my grandpa died from eating too much southern food, I don't see anyone saying "almost snuff" on food videos.

articiansays...

LOL, is that the explanation behind your nickname?

Rock. On.

I agree with @poolcleaner whats the point of putting not snuff in the description? Seems like a ridiculous thing to say as it could be said about a god awful amount of sifted videos.

SFOGuysays...

Fair enough; I just like to alert people (sensitive to the criticism of other videos I've posted of stuff) that risky things aren't going to end badly.
But Ok; I'll pull the snuff description.

Not in my opinion. It's still ballsy for most people, even if he is extremely talented. That little twist at the end just says to me "I'm so bored of this controlled free-fall".

SFOGuysaid:

fist bump

Should I pull the snark about "not quite risky enough?"

Dolbssays...

Looks like someone will be investing in some major waxing or new skis for next season

Paybacksays...

The twist, to me, says "Oh shit, I'm gonna overshoot. Time to lose mass altitude."

LOL. Most people have a set of "rock skis" for spring skiing. I've never met someone with a set of "lift cable with the steel burr" set before.
