Crowd vs Motorbike bag snatchers

Street justice in China.

Say what you will about their government, but I for one have nothing but respect for a society that gets involved rather than gawking at, laughing at, or worse, just completely ignoring the violation of innocent victims.

It seems that method of purse snatching is getting to be an epidemic in that country. This tells me that the people are getting fed up with it. Hopefully if this happens to them enough times, the idiots will stop doing it.

I don't know. Somehow it's pleasing to see that it got back to them but nevertheless this is anarchy were're wittnessing here. wo do have laws and a legal system to keep folks from doing self justice, and i'm convinced we have it for good reasons. i see this with mixed feelings.

For some reason while I was watching this I thought of ants. If people were ants, this would be a self reparing colony. Something went wrong, everybody surrounding the incident felt responsible for fixing it, it got fixed, everything went back to normal.

I see that as organised and sophisticated rather than anarchic.

ok maybe anarchy isn't the right word, it is organized somewhat, you're right. but i thought of it as anarchy because of folks talking the law in their own hands. that's never a good sign IMHO

actually no, people see the chance to abuse others without fear of repercussions.
here's some more very NSFW videos of this "self-repairing" colony

it seems like China and South America are really good at practicing this street justice

Although I had to vote up the comment "antarchy", I have to point out two differences.

First, ants will rush in to defend the colony completely heedlessly and without a thought to their own self-preservation.

Second, ants don't throw chairs.

...for which we may be very thankful.

That's because lynchings (which is effectively what we have here) have a nasty habit of getting out of hand, and out of control, and not-so-rarely wind up convicting and executing innocent people.

What makes me uneasy is when people don't stand up for each other. The police already take the law in their own hands and I don't feel confident that our legal system would be any more fair than an angry mob. As long as we cannot take care of prisoners and keep innocent people out of jail I don't think we should be allowed to systematically kidnap and injure people while locked up. When the legal system commits crimes as bad or worse than the criminals maybe its time to stop letting the legal system keep harassing people.

Being that this is a Communist society, I guess you could argue that he stole that purse from all of those people and they were all just defending their property.

Of course I suppose you could also argue that it was his purse too.
