I had a devil of a time finding a category [or two] fitting for an interview video with Jim Morrison's Dad and Sis I recently posted. I think it would be a useful addition. How about you?

Here's my suggestions for channels
~Subterfuge (artifice, bluff, device, hoax, ploy, stratagem, trick, deception of all kinds)
~Beavershots & Moonbeams (exactly as it reads)
~Liquor channel (Booze)
~Channel N°5 (fashion)

I admit, after all this time, I never knew that! >> ^seltar:
The kids channel also needs a better way to make sure people are posting a video FOR kids, not OF kids.

Not REALLY sifters' fault. The operator(s) of the channel could take a couple minutes and actually make a difference with that couple minutes by jotting down a respectable description.

Lord tunderin' jesus I've suggested this life changing move a couple times. TO A COUPLE PEOPLE.

I've suggested before, and will again, the pop-up channel descriptions when you hover over a channel on the video submission page need to be longer and CLEARER.

Interview channel would/could emcompass much of Latenight, Talks, Documentaries, 1sttube, even Politics. How about something more precise like "Debates"? You could start grabbing from Religion, Politics, Controversy, and Philosophy right away. I'd dig a Debates channel.

Gratuitous channel suggestion: how about a Self-sift channel (or area, or something), where members can post their own stuff? I think it's been suggested before, but I'm old and don't remember what the consensus was, or if there was a consensus (or if it was even suggested before).

EDIT: Could the Sift utilize an Interview Channel? I'm definitely a maybe baby.

@Fletch Unfortunately, the video I referred to wasn't late night, talks, 1sttube [or any tube for that matter] and it certainly wasn't politics. I suppose it could possibly be classified as documentary. According to the YT description it was bonus material from the "When You're Strange" DVD.

What actually prompted this suggestion was that I've been getting several "no channel" comments lately and I really try hard to be accurate with my declarations. I agree with you 100% about clearer pop-up descriptions!

Thanks for the Maybe Baby =o)

Someone needs to explain the talks channel to @ant. I've tried, but he still puts everything in there.

Explaining channels to ant is like explaining newspapers to a puppy; he doesn't understand and doesn't care. It's up to the rest of us to follow him around and clean up his messes.

Talks was originally meant to be a channel about Talks (like ted talks), debates, speeches etc. and not have interviews. That part sort of featurecreeped into it. At this point I probably don't think we need an interview channel, because it's so closely related channel, but I could swing either way.

If it happens, I will reform Talks to not include Interviews.

I've made the Kids mistake myself. What I'd like to see is better/longer tool-tip channel descriptions for the check boxes on the submit form. That would place the information right where and when we need it to act (see "kairos").
