World's Largest Remote Control Plane

jmdsays...

thats pretty awesome. Jimma, nah, that was actually a model commercial jet liner. What was neat about that jet liner is that it actually used 4 small jets. This thing sounds like its using 4 weed wacker engines.

Would be nice if some details were supplied, like who did this, whats with the dual controls (one person handles throttle and the other steers?), stats on the plane.

I want one!

And it looks more like a replica of a WWII B-17 IMO, theres a picture of
a woman and the writing "Dina" i think on the front of it, so it's based off
of some WWII bomber and not a comercial liner.

I spent the first 2 minutes wondering if they were going to fly it or just drive it around the field.

I see others had the same or similar feeling that fingers were going to be severed at some point in the video. If nothing else, it seems it would be smart to start the engines in the opposite order so that when your hand follows through, it's heading towards a stationary propeller and not one which is already spinning.

I assume you were directing that at me, and no that's a different video. The one I've seen was a large 4 engine WWII bomber (it might have been a B-17) that crashed into a tree. They took off, lost two engines and were not able to turn it around and make it back to land. It landed in the top of a tree, and they had to get a bucket truck to get it out. The video showed the aftermath, and it was still mostly in one piece.

Nah....

The largest R/C plane ever is the actual jet airliner they crashed to test a fire resistant fuel additive.

The test didn't realy prove anything.

In WWII actual full sized aircraft were used as primitive guided bombs.
Maybe B-17s!

HistNerd:This isn't a a B-17,it's actually at B-29.

I know this is a B-29, I didn't say it was a B-17, I said the video I was thinking of might have been a B-17.

I found the video anyway, but I don't know if it's the same plane. They have different paint schemes, but it looks like it didn't take much damage in the aftermath picture. The description says it happened in 1990, so it could have been re-painted since then.

Here is the video I was talking about, it's about 3/4 of the way down under "Byron B-29 Crash."

Well, there you go, i thought that it was a case of the poster just going 'Gee, that's a big RC plane, I'll label it the world's largest'...

But: "Its span is 8.9m, 210 kg, 4 X 160cc engine. It is the B29 "Dina Might" on scale 1/5 and is the largest according to the Guiness Book of Records" (Largest Amateur one anyway) Although I still have yet to see this quoted reliably
