YogiI'm getting sick of people and their pussification. This is a situation where in a better world this guy would be found in the dumpster the following morning with this throat slashed to his spine. I would also hope that the cops wouldn't even bother investigating something like that, just move on he's nothing.
GutspillerHitler did nothing wrong.

silvercordUpvote for visibility.
newtboyI would just assume he's offering himself as a 'victim' and find someone with the urge to rape him, because we deserve (to) rape (him).
AeroMechanicalsays...Aren't we bordering on the the "inciting violence" end of the free speech spectrum here?
StormsingerI'd say any inciting of violence here is mostly on his side.
Sniper007says...Shall we keep it that way?
I'd say any inciting of violence here is mostly on his side.
ChaosEngineMeh, I'm not interested in engaging with him. He has nothing of value to say.
Punch him in the face and move on.
00Scud00says...So if he wears shorts someday and gets raped, he can't complain then, right?
AeroMechanicalsays...I suspect this is the right attitude. The outrage probably does do some good, but we shouldn't forget that the Westboro Baptist Church has on the order of only 40 some members, yet they're a household name and can create international diplomatic incidents and get worldwide news coverage almost at will.

StormsingerSelf-righteous pricks have that effect on a lot of people. Especially the apparent sociopaths who seem incapable of empathy or understanding.
I'm not a violent sort of person, but I'd be damned tempted to give him that punch in the face and say, "You deserve far worse, perhaps a probe with a broom handle."
Maybe it has something to do with my wife having been raped. I don't take rape apologists lightly...and saying that -anything- justifies rape is being an apologist.

SagemindThis guy is a sign-post for things that are wrong in society!
newtboyWe?!? It's HIS sign advocating rape. I'm just pointing out that he just as easily could be advocating committing rape (against him) rather than advocating women being raped.
His sign was not at all clear (just like his thought process).
Aren't we bordering on the the "inciting violence" end of the free speech spectrum here?
newtboyWait...you just advocated raping him with a broom handle....so are you a rape apologist? Because you seem to say that his actions justify his being raped.
Huh?!?

YogiPipe down before I rape you and then rape him to give him your AIDS.
Wait...you just advocated raping him with a broom handle....so are you a rape apologist? Because you seem to say that his actions justify his being raped.
Huh?!?
DataSchmuckMaybe this guy with the sign killed some evil dude a while back, and that evil dudes brother is taking revenge by planting bombs all over the city and threatening to detonate them unless this guy walk around with a "you deserve rape" sign?
JustSayingToo bad Daniel Tosh doesn't have a callsign like Batman. I mean, wouldn't it be funny if that guy got raped by, like, five guys right now?
YogiThat sounds like the worst B Movie plot ever.

xxovercastxxAnd now he's famous, too. Good job, news media.
PaybackThat's Bruce Willis for ya!
That sounds like the worst B Movie plot ever.
PaybackNah, he's not a rape apologist, he's just a man with a fantastic idea, and FANTASTIC IDEAS ARE WHAT 'MURICA NEEDS MORE OF!!
It's what we up here in Canada need more of too. We fuckin' protect the rights of child pornographers fer fuck's sake. Fuckers are damn lucky we got gun control, let me tell you.

SDGundamXWe had a guy like this on our college campus back in the 90s. He also called himself "Brother" something-or-other and used to stand in the quad yelling at girls that walked by in mini-skirts that they were whores and sluts and would burn in hell. The university protected his right to free speech until the boyfriend of one of the girls he verbally accosted punched him in the jaw and sent him to the hospital. The boyfriend was arrested by campus police and charged with assault.
So moral of the story--in the United States you don't legally have the right to not be offended/insulted in a public space. I'm glad to hear in this news story that other students defended his right to speak freely and while on the one hand I'm glad some students decided to counter-protest him, I can't help but feeling the fastest way to make him go away is to completely ignore him and show how irrelevant both he and his crazy ideas are.
SDGundamXSeriously? You think a world in which people are murdered for speaking their opinion is a better one than we have now? And furthermore you think we don't murder people who have distasteful opinions because we're "pussies"? Not a bit of cognitive dissonance when you wrote either of those statements?

SDGundamXNo. It is incredibly difficult to convict someone of inciting violence under U.S. law for two reasons. First, the state must have a statute on record prohibiting such speech (not all states do) and second, even if such a law exists, the state has to prove that the speaker intended to goad another to commit violent acts.
Furthermore, a sign that says "Kill the niggers" or "Rape a woman" would probably not be violations of incitement laws since the Supreme Court has held that proclaiming abstractly a belief in violence is not the same as, in their words, "preparing a group for violent action and steeling it to such action." On the other hand, if this guy in the video is standing in the quad urging men to rape a particular woman (or all women currently in the quad for that matter), that would likely be grounds for an incitement charge. For more info see the wikipedia page on fighting words and incitement:

YogiWho are you? Anyways my problem is good people all over the place get killed, often in horrible ways. You wanna improve you or your families lives in the wrong area of the world, you get two to the back of the head in an alley. Live in the wrong neighborhood, driveby, you die in the street waiting 20 minutes for the ambulance. Black and resisting arrest, you get shot in the back and cuffed while the cop that flees to another state gets dragged back and doesn't serve time.
So all this horrible shit happens to good people in the world. Why can't something horrible happen to this guy? My comment was a bit tongue and cheek and sometimes I just like to shout. Honestly though I would LOVE to see one day someone with a fucked up opinion in America get killed in the most brutal way imaginable. Someone who isn't black and doesn't think it's right for the state to treat them like second class citizens. Someone who has had every advantage in life and is pissed off for no appreciable reason at all.
Everyone get's to complain, some get killed. I'd like to see just one, JUST FUCKING ONE guy who's shitty opinion everyone doesn't like get it fucking good.
Seriously? You think a world in which people are murdered for speaking their opinion is a better one than we have now? And furthermore you think we don't murder people who have distasteful opinions because we're "pussies"? Not a bit of cognitive dissonance when you wrote either of those statements?
CaptainObviousThis exactly. This guy is never going to get anywhere. Tons of publicity isn't going to stop him either, if anything it makes him stronger. If you want to get at someone like this, violence would not be as effective as holding counter signs that attack his core beliefs - these people tend to be very sensitive to that.
I suspect this is the right attitude. The outrage probably does do some good, but we shouldn't forget that the Westboro Baptist Church has on the order of only 40 some members, yet they're a household name and can create international diplomatic incidents and get worldwide news coverage almost at will.
