Rove was never a genius. His management of Bush's 2000 campaign caused Bush to lose, except that the far left got greedy and voted for Nader instead of Gore. Add any of Nader's votes to Gore's votes in the battleground states and Gore won by a long shot.

It's pretty stunning to see him say the exact opposite of what his true beliefs are. Is it any wonder American voted for change this time around?

Well, this all was before September 11th. If that hadn't happened, Bush's presidency would have been very different. Everything that is defining about the Bush era goes back to, in some way, September 11th.

Now, that's a president I'd vote for... huh? Hey wait a minute!

To me he's always given off the impression of someone simply way over his head. He may have genuinely believed in what he offered, but somewhere along the line September 11th happened and in a desperate fit of helplessness and fear as evidenced by his infamous petrification upon hearing the news, he surrendered foreign policy and it appears many associated areas of government to the neo-conservative movement.

Also, I'm still simply flabbergasted that the people who voted him in '00 were all too eager to repeat that decision in '04 even though he had all too evidently recanted and reversed on many of his policies. I understand the significance of 9/11 in the public eye as changing the situation, and the power and sway of the evangelical movement but regardless the sheer fact that 46-47% still voted for McCain in '08 with all the effort that had gone in to tying him to Bush, comes off as simply beyond plausible. I mean can mindless and submissively compliant partisanship really be that strong?

Cant you guys tell he's been training and studying for this? How many times does he say the 'we should be humble' line. He was quite obviously saying what he was taught to say, not what he believed. Yes, he was clearly in over his head and after gaining office (after LOOSING, lets not forget that, and being voted in by a republican court,) and after 9/11, he stopped being in charge of this country and started just listening to his 'advisers' and his vice president and simply enacting what he was told.

This kind of footage is without a doubt the most terrifying part of his presidency. Hell, it makes it look like aliens extracted 90% of his brain when he became president. What kind of insanity turns someone this well spoken into someone that kind put two scripted sentences together? That the American political machine operates like this is just scary.

Haven't you guys heard that he had invasion plans for Iraq before 9/11? Maybe the terrorist attacks allowed him to go forward, but it was always what he wanted.

Basically, the Republicans were so angry that Clinton "got away with it" that they rallied the troops and got a questionable result to the 2000 elections that tipped in their favor. Further, even though just about everyone could tell Bush suffered from some kind of mental defect, expectations were lowered to the point where Bush not soiling himself in front of an audience was considered a "victorious performance," and any hard questions were cast as "partisan," "biased," or "being mean to the special needs president because you secretly hate him."

9/11 allowed him and his neocon cadre go nuts across the globe, riding "the war on terra" more as a means to funnel government money to their allies and help their party win elections by portraying opponents (even people in their own party) as "soft on terror" or even "traitors."

But eventually, even the most tightly-wrapped corpse will start to leak through the duct tape and garbage bags, and the whole mess began to stink to high heaven. With no concrete results to show from his wars, his broken promises, gaffes, and shady dealings, long-time defenders abandoned ship, but those in Congress who still have an (R) behind their name won't even allow a hint of investigation into his and Cheney's many, MANY questionable acts. About the best we can hope for is that he's remembered for the failure he is and that our nation overcomes the aftermath sooner rather than later.

I'm hoping this means that no more "guys we can have beers with" will be put forth as candidates, but given how ape the GOP went over Palin, I'm not holding my breath for them to put forth anyone who could even come close to being considered wise or competent.

In 2000 I considered myself far left, yet I wasn't greedy when I voted for Ralph Nader. I didn't like the policies of Bush, and I didn't like the policies of Gore. But I liked the policies of Nader.

And it's well-known that if people had not voted for Howard Phillips of the Constitution Party, Gore would have won Florida. So quit blaming Nader and the people who voted for him.

^If you had taken a different action, than the event in question wouldn't have occurred. That's a "chain of causality."

It's obviously not the only chain of causality involved, but it was a necessary chain in order for the event to occur.

There's nothing wrong with making a mistake, but there is something wrong with refusing to take responsibility for mistakes.
