Sadistic cop keeps tazering unresponsive man

A startling display of police brutality was captured on camera on Friday, Aug. 15th. Officer Becky Sotherland, 32, of the Pine Ridge tribal police screams at a man to get into her vehicle as he lay on the ground helpless and handcuffed. The man, incapacitated, unresponsive, and unable to get into the vehicle, is hit with a stun gun repeatedly as Sotherland yells at him to get in the car threatening that, “It’s gonna get you again,” referring to the 50,000 volts of electrical current delivered by the tazer. Sotherland continually brutalizes the man until finally horrified onlookers begin yelling for the assault to stop, telling the officer they will help get the man into the vehicle themselves, as they are disgusted at the scene taking place before their eyes. Sotherland obviously wasn’t using the stun gun as a means of defense, s the man is laying helplessly on the ground handcuffed, rather she is using it as a means of sadistic punishment in an attempt to motivate him to get into her police cruiser as she is seemingly too lazy to simply put the suspect into the cruiser herself.

What i just cannot figure out, well virtually nothing about this, but specifically where is the "officers" sense of self preservation. She has to know she is being recorded, and even if she isn't, it sounds like there are numerous witnesses to something that at some level she has to know is going to... oh who are we kidding... at most will probably get her fired or suspended with pay.

Nope. She's tribal police, which means unless this was the chief or his son, she's going to get off scott free. It sucks ass, but that's tribal policing for you.

When you describe it that way... "tribal policing" sounds a lot like "policing" everywhere else.

From a 2010 article on the Rapid City Journal titled "Two square off for county coroner", Rebecca Sotherland engages in a little self-analysis to woo voters:

"SOTHERLAND – I am a South Dakota Certified Law Enforcement Officer trained in death investigation, with specialized Coroner training. In the two years that I have been your County Coroner, my compassion for those in my community has grown exponentially. I have included a few of my duties so you can make an informed decision about who is best suited for the job as your County Coroner. I would appreciate your vote on November 6!"

She won.

Christ that is really depressing.

On the upside, now she can taze those cadavers as many times as she likes and not have to worry about pesky things like civil rights.
