Mother lets pram fall into path of train. Baby survives.

"A 6-month-old baby in a pram was hit by a train in Melbourne, Australia yesterday. Miraculously, the baby survived with just a bump to the head. The lesson - always use the brake!" - YouTube

I cannot even imagine what must have been going on in woman's head when she surely though her baby was dead through her own stupidity. I wish the video had shown how the baby was rescued. I'm curious if they stopped the train from continuing on and someone crawled underneath or if the train just took off before anyone "official" knew what was going on.

I doubt the train had continued, she and some other guy ran to the front and were screaming at the engineer.

Is she on the phone there? It looks very much like it, especially as she only seemed to be holding the pram with one hand at the beginning and didn't notice the pram moving forward despite looking in the general direction. As peripheral vision is usually very good at picking up movement, she must have been very distracted by something.

No phone. The distraction was the train, she had her head towards it as it approached. You can see her head turn significantly when she notices the baby moving towards the track. Just watch how much more hair vs skin you see when she finally does looks straight ahead.

This has been on the news a bit here... understandably. My god just what emotions would you have felt seeing it go under like that. Careless, but hardly a 'dumb bitch' as budzos so nicely put it. Every parent has momentary lapses... usually nothing comes of it, and in this case she's very lucky with the outcome, but you can't blame her really for such a small accident. Yes she should have had the break on, and been holding on to it, but come on...

I'm going to err on stupid person... It really doesn't matter if a train was coming or not... She didn't think to put the brakes on or hold on to the stroller?!

Lucky is all she has going for her...
