Elysium Trailer HD

In the year 2159, two classes of people exist: the very wealthy, who live on a pristine man-made space station that is disguised as a massive floating city called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth.

not wetting my pants yet, but it has the potential. That's a good thing.

Wouldn't want to...n/m

I just hope the final product steps far away from the tone of this teaser (much in the same vein as Blade Runner did back in the day).

EvilDeathBeesays...

You've seen District 9, right? It's safe to assume it'll have strong a story and characters

Quote hidden because you are ignoring dag.(show it anyway)

Here's hoping that it's more about the characters and the story than the pretty CGI - the trailer certainly isn't. I'm cautiously optimistic. :-|

My pants are wet. Neill Blomkamp has a great eye for using CG as a background element, while the story is the most important - this is fantastic. District 9 was balls deep awesome. I have high hopes for this.

Jinxsays...

I was a fan of Blomkamp before District 9, back when he was doing commercials and short films. Now he's much too mainstream for me.

Can't wait for this.

Basically Matt Damon gets sick of living in District 9, so he borrows the Mickey Rourke suit from Iron Man 2, to take on Daft Punk who are defending the toffs from Hunger Games, who all live on the roundy space station from 2001: A Space Odyssey.

(- a friend of mine on facebook)

Paybacksays...

I'd pay to see that movie too if Blomkamp does it.

If you ever find yourself designing androids, especially for combat or constable duty, make sure the head is cosmetic only and contains no critical components.

When the enemies/rebels go to battle against them, they'll waste all their ammo and effort destroying what is essentially a hood ornament, leaving your now headless platoon fully functional against exhausted, defenseless meatbags.

Deanosays...

It almost looks like it was adapted from a videogame. And Deus Ex springs to mind though someone is making that one as well.

I wasn't that impressed by District 9, though the aliens were cool. The near vérité style was irksome and the documentary talking heads replaced much needed time for characterisation.
