PlayhousePals*promote the stoner states wooohooo
siftbotPromoting this video and sending it back into the queue for one more try; last queued Tuesday, November 6th, 2012 11:02pm PST - promote requested by PlayhousePals.
probieAbout goddamn time. Looks like I'm movin'.![](https://videosift.com/vs5/emoticon/wink.gif)
TheJehosephatNow if they lead by (good) example, the rest of the nation will follow. If crime rates go down and income goes up, there's not much left to claim about marijuana legalization being a bad thing.
notarobotFinally!
YogiThe problem we face next is challenges from the Federal Government. Also I live in Washington...can I go buy some today? Where shall I be getting my marijuanas and needles with which to inject them?
ChairmanDrewsays..."Won't be Amsterdam". You cant smoke a joint on the sidewalk in Amsterdam...
SevenFingersI always saw/read about debates saying how reefer would be a big boost to state income, but they always always placed the debate around the use of smoking, or ingesting it. But I never saw the points being placed about the thousands upon thousands of actual products that can be made through hemp that can be taxed.
I'm glad this happened.
Trancecoachbring on the corporate take-over of the industry and watch the quality diminish.
PHJFAny income to the state will be met or surpassed by a shocking drop in citizen productivity![](https://videosift.com/vs5/emoticon/smile.gif)
luxury_pieOk, America you have about a month to legalize it in most of your states, so that my country can hop on as soon as possible. Can you do that? Please?

Well that's probably not true. A large corporation isn't going to risk their money with takeover from the federal government. I imagine what you'll have is something like wine. Small operations and small businesses who have been growing weed before but now can do it out in the open. Hopefully that won't force the product to dip drastically, and also it will inspire competition between growers due to more public and allowable advertising. You can try different peoples stuff and maybe it'll be your thing.
vaire2ubeLaw goes into effect December 6th .. this is great news for me, I was wondering what i would do with my simple biology degree... and now i may be able to help advance the science of the medicinal uses of cannabis, or work in a quality control lab.
i know WA will become a leader in cannabis research, as we are on the coast and next to Canada, so the influx of supplies wont be interrupted by any crossing state lines approach to law enforcement... we will be a beacon of freedom.
Of course, soon the secret about what a great place WA is will be totally out.

Surprisingly growing hemp seems to be a much more difficult legal problem, one that no state has ever solved. Laws legalizing industrial hemp cultivation have already been passed in 10 states, but if anyone were to actually plant a field the expectation is the feds would quickly swoop in. Federal law makes no distinction between hemp and marijuana, they're both schedule 1 "drugs".
Bills and amendments to disentangle the legal status of hemp and marijuana are introduced in congress every year, but I don't think they've ever come close to passing.

chingaleraYou think that those who stand to gain the most money from marijuana and hemp laws remaining retarded would allow what's good for the United States and her people to become educated, involved, and effectual?? Fat fucking chance. Obama won't sign dick that gets the country any closer to sanity.
Hooray for Washington and Colorado. I've lived in both states. My children live in Seattle. I hope they will see an end to prohibition in their lifetime. We all remember how well prohibition in the early part of the 20th century to trade one form of organized crime for another one, eh?
Illegal marijuana puts more military-tech and bulletproof vests into hands and on the asses of more developmentally-disabled hooligans every year. The same hooligans who are the enforcement and surveillance arm of the thugs who offered up the choices of douche or turd for president this farcical election cycle....ONE AFTER ANOTHER!!!

Haha at first perhaps. But a few years from new we'll find out that, much like European countries with legal or heavily decriminalized Cannabis, the number of users will drop.
brycewi19Expect Vancouver, WA to start booming in population from Portland ex-pats!![](https://videosift.com/vs5/emoticon/smile.gif)
StukaFoxsays...Dear people thinking of moving to Seattle:
Go away, we're closed.
Sincerely,
The entire population of Seattle.
MonkeySpanksays...YES WEED CAN!
jonnyI'm somewhat disheartened by how little coverage this is getting. It really is big news.
One problem I foresee is that, afaik, there is nothing legal about distributing marijuana in either state. So, you're still dealing with a black market and all the ugliness that entails. The consequences of that could create an unfortunate backlash against the legalization movement.

i never thought about it like that, with the whole "free economy competition" aspect of it. or advertising. very good point.
also i chuckle every time the guy at :48 says "one ounce of marijuana" and holds two fingers an inch apart. obviously has never seen an ounce of weed in his life.

Pretty much this. I've heard the only reason hemp was banned in the first place was because of corporate cronies.

They have only legalised possession so far though. Growing/distribution still seems to be illegal for the moment right?
Anyway, its not as if budweiser is the only option when it comes to alcohol. Plenty of smaller businesses making different varieties. Look at Amsterdam coffee shops.
