This review is from: To Train Up A Child (Paperback)
My mother was given this book while I was a child. Wanting to raise a well-behaved child, she would spank me with a belt. She is proud of me. I am a senior at Princeton University and practicing Catholic. However, today my mother would tell you that I am these things in spite of the teachings of "To Train Up a Child," in spite of the self-loathing and insecurity caused by whippings which would not end until I could pretend to be content. Pretend to embrace the necessity for my own torture.
I was abused. Please do not look to this book for guidance.

EDIT [I was not abused. My parents were kind, loving and supportive. Sorry if my cut and pasting was not clear]

luxury_piesays...It's terrible, not *terrible.
edit: On second thought, I am not sure, sorry. It is a channel for terrible products/ releases like that book. But the news-video itself isn't at all.
I kinda want to know what part of their religious and/or delusional mind drove them to their conclusions.
siftbotsays...This video has been removed from all channels (Wtf, Religion, Terrible, Fear, News, Teens, Controversy) due to invalid channel assignment - nochannel invoked by luxury_pie. Please review the FAQ to learn about appropriate channel assignments.
Adding video to channels (Controversy, Death, Fear, News, Religion, Teens, Wtf) - requested by luxury_pie.
Yogisays...I just want to kill everyone involved. I would feel no remorse.

It's okay to beat someone to death if you're trying to save them from hell, right?

This was disturbing. It was like I was watching the same clip of the other couple months back. You can tell their is a strange mindset at play here.
Usually, the definition of psychology for someone will be doled out with complexes, traits, disorders, bi-polar, psychopathy, sociopath, etc... This is reserved for a single person of one mind, of course. But this shows that there is an undeniable new entry for a couples and groups; a couple that has many children and are highly religious. With just the right catalysts, like that evil book you linked and which was talked about, it becomes something else. Their co-habitual drug of fun was given a test drive: the book or simply, their "rod". But, they wanted to fly; to take it farther. So they took that book and made each answer stronger, more correct. ...And how could they be wrong when God made them feel so good...
Scary stuff. I'm sorry for what happened to you @dystopianfuturetoday . Parents have a tough job, but punishing your child with full on physical force is not an answer. There are atleast 100 better books on parenting than these idiotic "Christian's Force Rod!" type books.
quantumushroomsays...A twisted tale, and the Communist "News" Network predictably attempts to put all of Christendom on trial for the actions of a minority of mentally ill abusers.
Remember when Obama didn’t want us to jump to the conclusion that the shootings at Fort Hood were a terrorist attack by an Islamic jihadist, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan? Obama would rather we forgot that Hasan screamed “Allah akbar” before he mowed down scores of patriotic Americans and gave away Qurans with his business card before his act of jihad.
Where is that famous liberal "reason" now?

That is copied and pasted from the Amazon review. No dft's were abused.

Are you asking me a serious question? These people were obviously very off kilter. I am not going to apologize for every psychotic that calls themselves Christian. This is an awful tragedy and I condemn it in the strongest terms.
acidSpinesays...I would have thought the coroner's report would be enough to convict these two cunts. Who cares what what moonshiners' rantings influenced them.
Januarisays...For 'God Sake!' what would we do without Christian values to guide us!... We'll be beating our children to death inside a week!...
I hate how much I hate these people...

JiggaJonsonsays...*quality sift *horrid people
siftbotsays...Boosting this quality contribution up in the Hot Listing - declared quality by JiggaJonson.
silvercordsays...There is a standard to which those who call themselves Christians can be held. Jesus said, "By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” We know who gets to be called one of his followers and who doesn't.
lantern53says...This is highly unusual among Christians.
Not so unusual among Muslims, however.
ryanbennittsays...Er, how is finding a weight loss book at a the home of a dead obese person similar? If it was a book advocating weight gain, then yeah, there would be a similarity.
MonkeySpanksays...I am not religious at all. In fact, I do not believe in god. However, I understand that these people's actions do not reflect a whole population. I think many Christians would find this appalling, and I would agree with them on that matter. Crazy people are everywhere and blaming an entire population on one person's actions is just absurd - regardless of the cause. You have selectively decided to berate Muslims but I see no difference between you an your fellow Muslims. Many of your co-believers just want piece and prosperity, but you fail to see that.
I'll give you an example. Take evolution vs creationism. As you might guess, I am all about evolution; however, I disagree with with many evolutionists because they are not scientific in their process. You get a bad seed in every batch (including scientists, Christians, and Muslims). I would not criticize religion for these people's actions, just like I would not criticize science for some evolutionists' ideas, or the English language for some bad author's book.
Good day to you!

FlowersInHisHairsays...These people may not be representative of all Christians, true. But the problem is that it is entirely possible to find support for their actions in the Bible. "To Train Up A Child" isn't the only book they should be throwing away here.
Quboidsays...The book of Proverbs, 13:24:
>> He who spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is careful to discipline him.
That's from the NIV translation. Some translations put it as you should discipline carefully, which is an improvement, but either way the Bible says you are a bad, unloving parent if you don't hit your child.
Way to teach moral values!
I'm not claiming that the Bible condones seriously injuring or killing your child, but that I had to put the word "seriously" in there really says it all.

This part was good.
You have selectively decided to berate Muslims but I see no difference between you an your fellow Muslims. Many of your co-believers just want piece and prosperity, but you fail to see that.
Except the muslim earns his reputation. Be sure to wiki 'honor killings'. The quran makes it clear the muslim has 3 choices when meeting infidels: convert them, enslave them or kill them. Any other course of action and you are not a real muslim and can be killed along with the other infidels. Yet far-too-many muslims are clearly faithful as they cause problems wherever they're found en masse.
BTW if this piece was real journalism and not anti-Christian propaganda, the "news" source would've found the nearest Christian pastor/deacon/reverend/priest and asked about the Bible and this couple's alleged barbarism.
