Christian Refuses A Sticker Reading 666, Now Can't Get A Job

local news vomit is regurgitated by CNN. November 23, 2011 If he thought about it, he was faced with a bigger problem: Why was the antichrist working for a plastics company?
Stusays...

It's part of his job. Deal with it or use a personal day. I hope he loses it. Stupid people suing over stupid things.

Boise_Libsays...

Well...it would be nice to hear the other side of the story first.
We don't really know this is the sole reason for his firing.

If this is the sole reason then I agree that he should win.

Sketchsays...

The practice of making people wear the sticker is stupid, them firing him for not wearing it is downright illegal, but he's a complete moron for believing such superstitious nonsense. There isn't an innocent party in this entire story.

Porksandwichsays...

Why did it take a year to bring forward the lawsuit if it was such a religious reason? I'd say he's looking to sue because he couldn't hop to another job after being terminated, but it still shouldn't have taken him a year to bring the lawsuit if he felt so strongly and truly believed that was the sole reason for his firing. I don't think his case is without merit, but I think his point is weakened by the long delay and that the full truth is being masked in this reporting.

And I seriously doubt this reporter looked at every possible document on this situation, ya know....since the company wouldn't even speak with him.

Guy bringing lawsuit has that lispy sound I associate with gay men. IE If you ever listen to michelle bachmann's husband that guy has it and a lot of really blatant gay men have it. Side note, but probably has a lot of bearing on his "religious fervor".

Typically, employment-related lawsuits can't go through until mediation and line-in-the-sand deadlines are passed.

Kofisays...

Hahaha. I love how the dude after says there is a difference between superstition and a bonafide religious belief.

A10anissays...

The dictionary defines bonafide as "authentic" and "true." On that basis he has no grasp on reality. Reminds me of a woman in UK sacked for refusing to sell alcohol. She knew the store sold alcohol, but, she was a muslim. Keep your faith if you must, but keep it to yourself, out of schools, out of politics, and out of sane peoples lives.

truth-is-the-nemesissays...

i wonder if anyone else would be allowed to sue the company if they believed that bad things would happen to themselves & others in the company after wearing the number 13?.

schlubsays...

No, it's not "illegal" to fire an employee for refusing to do their job.

Sagemindsays...

What the F gives the company the right to force people to wear a stupid sticker every day? What part of this sticker gets in the way of his duties as an employee?
The stupid things, companies in the US, force their employees to do astounds me.

If I was at a job, and I was forced to wear this kind of crap, I'd have walked out on the first day - It's demeaning and it makes my blood boil just thinking about it. A name tag which identifies you when you may see people in your job who may not know you is one thing, but a safety sticker? I'm sure there are more important things to worry about in here. Put the sticker on the wall.

People are not your personal billboards just because you employ them.
(*Sorry, having a bad morning...)

sillmasays...

IF the sticker is defined as part of the uniform or otherwise part of the job, there's nothing wrong with it. If the employee signed up for the job and didn't trust the number would get up to 666 at somepoint, ah well, good riddance.

BicycleRepairMansays...

Clearly the guy is a deluded nutjob, but firing him simply for not wearing a sticker on one day? seems excessive and stupid, even if his reason wasnt good. I mean, it just seems ridiculuosly square of them. Let him have his one sticker-free day, and then he can wear it the next day. It would have been different if this was an ongoing problem.

I'm willing to bet there are some underlying reasons like he was a generally annoying religious nutcase, and the sticker-incident was an opportunity to get rid of the guy.

What annoys me most about this video is the "expert" brought in who insist that it was a "bonefied religious belief" and "not a superstition"... Huh?
1.Those are the same thing
2.So fucking what?

hallucinatedsays...

I think he really tried to warn the company he doesn't want to wear it? I think he's actually correct in that the company did violate some of his rights.

I mean Christianity is always bashed but if a Muslim person did something close to that, I don't think there would be so much outcry.

IMHO Revelations is easily the least spiritual book of the bible, but here's the passage for those who can't stand the bible:

Re 14:9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,
10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:
11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.

1 more thing. I always think of wikileaks when I read this passage. Some of you may not know that wikileaks was killed when banks like mastercard and paypal siezed wikileaks funds, and starved wikileaks out of the donations intended for it.

Re 13:16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

MaxWildersays...

I bet you he was hated by his fellow employees. Nobody would fire him if it was just about wearing the number for a day.

I doubt we'll ever hear the result, but I'd like to know how this plays out.

kceaton1says...

His last comment is complete comedy gold. Atleast it is for me. "One day I will die and it will be because..."

So, does he have the same issue with 999. We all know the slippery slope available just by turning that number around or looking at it wrong. Idiots--they know no bounds!

criticalthudsays...

it is still employment at will, meaning all the company must do is show a non-discriminatory reason for firing him.
One such reason could be: he's kinda of a dooshbag. Or, we didn't need him anymore.
