Cenk Uygur On Why He Is Leaving MSNBC

July 20, 2011. Cenk leaves after MSNBC cancels his slot.

In April, he said, Mr. Griffin “called me into his office and said that he’d been talking to people in Washington, and that they did not like my tone.” He said he guessed Mr. Griffin was referring to White House officials, though he had no evidence for the assertion. He also said that Mr. Griffin said the channel was part of the “establishment,” and “that you need to act like it.” (http://www.nytimes.com/2011/07/21/business/media/sharpton-close-to-being-msnbc-anchor.html?_r=1&src=twr)

Hurray!

Of course, I consider Cenk a watered version of Glen Beck for the extreme left.

Good riddance, I never figured guys like him belonged on a major network anyways. Mind you, there's about a hundred guys at Fox I'd rather see gone first...

This guy is so annoying. 'Quit your bitchin.' You'd figure he would have not been so surprised and whiny about the whole thing. "What media is biased?"

What does the whole whiny thing about controlling hand gestures and acting like a senator have to do with any of the more serious stuff in his rant?

I bet this guy thinks hes a tiger now....

Uh - the short answer is because you're a talentless, mumble-mouthed, ignoramous. There that took all of 2 seconds. Cenk. Sank. Sunk. That's what MSNBC gets for hiring a dufus off the internet rather than an actual journalist, or even an actual broadcaster. Angry blog rants don't require talent. Being an on-air personality does.

Dude, his numbers went up! You may not like the guy's presentation style, but your implication about that being the cause of his departure is obviously contrary to reality. But I guess you're accustomed to holding opinions that are contrary to reality.

Please don't say things I agree with and disagree with in the same comment. It's very selfish as it means I can't up- or down-vote the comment. </sarc>>> ^bcglorf:

Surely you need a bit of a balance there, a lot of daily media is a reactionary representation of the feelings of the people and a Government that focuses on that is inherently short sighted.

(I read into your comment that you thought the converse of what you said was true; if that's not the case feel free to ignore me )>> ^Duckman33:

Since when is it a reporters job to make Washington happy? Just another reason why I don't watch these "news" stations.

Anyone who considers themselves a tiger so aren't. I also think that bitching about a former employer in public is a bit tasteless. Ok,if your former boss has 4 bodies in the freezer then feel free to vent out loud. He tries a little too hard in proving his point and that seems odd.

As a tool of the establishment, MSNBC has blood on their hands.
Americans are entirely held hostage to this bullshit information vaccuum that is supposed to be the 4th estate. it's only role is to divide, placate, lie to us and sell us shit.
the public needs to hear how they operate.

this comment is a perfect example of what they want you to think. it's why they allow children to grow up thinking "ill just keep my head down and shut up and these other kids won't make fun of me anymore".

I'm not really a huge fan, but I totally admire him for not taking the hush money. The entertainment industry has a million stories like this, but most of those on the receiving end don't have an online channel with as many views.

It'll be interesting to see where he ends up.
