Ashland Cops Use Taser On Restrained 18 Year Old

Ashland City, TN - A newly filed federal lawsuit has claimed Cheatham County Sheriff's Deputies used excessive force on an 18-year-old in custody in 2016.

Jordan Norris was arrested on drug and weapons charges last November and spent several days in Cheatham County Jail.

"I'll keep on going until I run out of batteries..ha-ha-ha."

It's unclear how a man, double handcuffed, hobbled, and secured in a restraint chair posed a threat to the officer or resisted anything, or what made the officer ignore his training and taser manufacturers strict guidelines about how to use them without risking death. That's why he'll likely end up a millionaire....with tax payer money.
Good thing for him those cameras worked.

Police abuse their own wives and children at a rate 15 times higher then the general public. The young man should count himself lucky, at least he is still alive. Black americans tend to receive more lethal abuse.

FFS, if you're going to make a claim like that, provide a source.

For a start, the rate of spousal abuse in the general public is above 1 in 15, so if police abused their spouses at 15 times the normal rate, the rate of police spousal abuse would be over 100%.

So yeah, I call bullshit on that claim.

However, a quick bit of google-fu indicates that spousal abuse is more prevalent among police officers than the general public, just not at the rates you claim.

"Excessive force" really undersells this one. Excessive force is when an officer is needlessly rough in an otherwise normal part of the job, like arresting someone. This is just torturing a guy for fun.

The fact that the spousal abuse rate for cops is up to 15 times higher than among the general public is just the tip of the iceberg. Wives of cops who are beaten and abused have to deal with the fact that their abuser is armed with a gun. Their abuser knows the location of battered women's shelters, and knows how to manipulate the system to avoid penalty and or shift blame to the victim.

In a way they have it worse then the occasional citizen who finds them self dealing a jackbooted thug with a badge. A citizen if left alive doesn't have to go home and live with an abuser.

Just from a quick goggle search. First thing i came across, and that is all you will get as it's already better then someone saying something is fact without the willingness to back it up. Although i assume you got that stat somewhere and would be interested to see where from.

"As the National Center for Women and Policing noted in a heavily footnoted information sheet, "Two studies have found that at least 40 percent of police officer families experience domestic violence, in contrast to 10 percent of families in the general population. A third study of older and more experienced officers found a rate of 24 percent, indicating that domestic violence is two to four times more common among police families than American families in general." Along with the fact that spousal abuse rates for cops is up to 15 times higher than among the general public is the disturbing fact that cops commit suicide at a higher rate then average.

Repeating an already twice debunked, impossible claim (that over 100% of cops are spousal abusers) with no supporting evidence doesn't somehow verify it, it just makes your attached new claims questionable, no matter how correct they may be.

On top of the established fact that spousal abuse rates for cops is up to 15 times higher than among the general public is the fact that bad cops lie habitually on police reports.

newtboyjokingly says...

On top of the established fact that it's impossible for spousal abuse rates to be 15 times higher than among the general public for ANY group because that amounts to over 100%, it's now an established fact that you don't understand what an established fact is.

What is even more incredible then the fact that spousal abuse rates for cops is up to 15 times higher than among the general public is the fact that cops plant evidence which generally is used to convict innocent people.

These guys are acting like graduates from the Abu Ghraib school of policing. Agree that it's rare to see these videos - but this must happen A LOT and go undocumented.
