An authority figure offers an intelligent rebuttal

From the Australian edition of "Cops".

If you are around little kids (training wheels on those bikes), and your neighbors have kids---like the ones literally playing in the background---why would you defend speeding down the street?

Seems like a very reasoned line of thought from the officer who's mostly seen squished kids.

I was thinking more...adulting.
Because kids near a street.

But...well, we'll see.

You're talking about, maybe, 3 sifters that believe cops can do no right. The rest of us use a more-or-less balanced view of the Gestapo various police forces.

I'm willing to bet that I'm assumed to be one of those 3....but I upvoted.
I don't hate cops, I hate criminal cops and power tripping cops. This one is neither.

Did you get that job as a fortune teller?

Whilst we're making blanket assumptions about people we don't know, when did you realise you were racist? Was it the smug satisfaction you felt when you saw a black man mercilessly beaten or shot by the police on the internet, or before then?

And is it easier to hide your racism behind a veneer of support for the police, or better to hide your face under a white sheet so no one knows it was you? Which works better? Thanks for your reply in advance.

No, you hate cops as do a lot of the posters on here. You have a problem with authority. Like these wankers, you'll stick up for and side with a complete arsehole who doesnt care if he kills your kids just because you hate the police and the law. No respect.

Clearly not.
Quit your job as a mind reader, you really suck at it.

No kidding. I'd have bought this cop a beer.

I don't know what the typical residential speed limits are in Australia, but here in Canada they are typically 40-50km/h. Anyone driving 70-80km/h where kids are playing deserves a stiff fine. I can't believe the parent(s) of the children in the background were supporting the speeder. Wow.

The problem you have is that you cannot look any further than the last post you disagreed with. There are dozens of videos showing good police officers doing their job, ie. helping the community. Negative commentary goes hand in hand with cops abusing their power or breaking the rules because they think they are above the law.

If you believe cops can do no wrong, you're as fucking moronic as a person who believes cops can do no right. Fortunately, both groups are an absolute minority around here.

I live on a dirt road with a 5mph limit, and people often fly by at 40mph, so this hits close to home. I just can't fathom what the parents are thinking, and would suggest that any parent that supports speeders on their block should get a visit from child protective services to see what other dangers the kids are intentionally exposed to.

I think you will find that when people post a video about a law enforcement officer that shows a reasonable or heroic action in the line of duty, it gets voted up quite well.

The thing is, and I may be speaking out of my ass here without the statistics, most of our posters are going to post things they are exposed to more often. If they are in North America, it is likely they are going to post more videos about cops that are in the USA. Sadly, law enforcement in the USA is having a crisis of faith among the citizens being policed because we have had a few years of epic failures in duty being caught on camera.

So if you look at the sift in microcosm, you are going to noticed a preponderance of 'bad' cop videos. Whereas if you look at each poster, you will find that when they do find a video of an officer behaving in a laudable manner they will usually submit it.

The typical residential speed limit is 50km/h here, and usually 40km/h around schools. The fine for driving 70 in a 50 zone is $A311 and 3 demerit points, doing 80 in a 50 zone is $A505 and 4 demerit points (in Victoria, I forget where this was filmed so went with local figures. I think it's higher in NSW).
