I just bought a HTC Legend - any tips?
I last bought a new mobile about five years ago, so the move to the Legend is somewhat of a quantum leap.
Does anyone have any useful tips or sites of interest I might want to visit?
I'm open to ideas.

I have a HTC Tattoo (the name of the phone, not a tattoo, obviously) that I'm frankly not that happy with, but I think Legend is probably faster and better. Tattoo is probably the crappiest of the newer HTC phones.(well, i guess its no longer among the newer ones either..)
Anyway, the big thing about these new phones is of course the apps, Firstly, you will need an app killer, like Advanced Task Killer. Android systems have a weakness of just leaving everything running in the background, with no helpful way of letting you know that you have stuff running, which is really annoying. ATK is a helpful weapon against this, as it lets you instantly see whats running, and kill it all in one click
Theres like a million different applications out there, which you can check out in the Android Market. One of my favorites is Google Sky, which is a augmented star map that you can use to navigate the sky. You can search for jupiter, for instance,(which is perfect for observation right now) and the phone will guide you to it.
The other great thing about android phones is that they can be synced with google calendar and contacts, which is helpful, so if you lose your phone, you keep the contacts etc. You can also integrate contacts with facebook and stuff.
Anyway, good luck!
Thanks! I'll check out this Advanced Task Killer. The only apps I have added so far are a local train and tram finder, which seem to work well. Battery life is a bit of a shock, tho. I thought there was something wrong when it lasted only 13 hours the first time, but that's the life of them it seems.
First off DO NOT RUN A TASK KILLER! Droid is meant to run with things in the background. Your only worries should be bad programming from 3rd party software that might actively run cpu in the background. Most of what is running in the background, you want running for quick access. It's kind of counter intuitive to what we know of computers. Here's some info here.

I've got a Sony Ericsson X10. I'm not too sure how similar the two phones are, but I believe they share the same app marketplace.
There's a couple that I'd recommend, they seem useless but actually have their purposes. First and foremost (as sad as this is) there's a Tricorder app in the style of Next Gen. What I use it for (other then nerding out) is it's got a decent wifi signal detector that gives you the names and strength of access points, aswell as a few other nifty things.
Track ID if you don't already have it is nifty, And (not sure if this is exclusive to my phone or not) Google Goggles. You essentially take a picture, the phone scans it, and google comes up with a result (if it finds something). Particularily useful for scanning things like movie posters, or book covers.
and lastly, just because it's something I enjoy, I have "Tune in radio", it streams radio over the web, so you can get your stations no matter where you are. (Walking for instance, although using it without being connected to a wireless hub'll cost you)
Good advice all round, thanks. Will avoid a task killer. I'm having a current nightmare syncing my email, possibly because Microsoft is being a dick about Outlook and Google doesn't want to pay to sort it out.
I have no idea what a 'tricorder' is, or track id, but I'll have a look at it. i also like the radio idea. my monthly download is 1.5 gig, so it shouldn't be too much of a drain. I've used almost none of this in a week.
apps: aldiko (book reader)
barcode scanner (in addition to google goggles)
buzz feed
camera 360(nifty fx)
dictionary.com
foursquare
last.fm
pandora
groove shark
flixster movies(reviews and such)
Adobe PDF viewer
Reddit is Fun
Shazam (music search)
StumbleUpon
Thinking Space (Mind Mapper)
Tv.com (streaming shows)
Zedge (ringtones and wallpapers)
Edit: If you're running froyo (ver 2.2),don't use an task killer...they use up more battery life then they save and just create a giant
cluster fuck....
You can order a pizza while not at home!
+1 for Barcode Scanner (it's not great at 1D codes, but very good with 2D QR-codes)
Dolphin Browser HD (better than the built in browser)
PdaNet (allows single laptop usb or bluetooth tethering, instead of paying $30 extra per month for Wifi hotspot)
Angry Birds (highly addictive game)
Andoku (best free sudoku of the several I tried)
Fring (multi protocol chat)
Also, in defense of Advanced Task Killer - it only kills what you ask it to. If you don't get overzealous with the settings, it's useful in killing some of the provider-installed crapware that seems to randomly run in the background for no reason (Sprint Zone, ESPN, Nascar, Amazon MP3 - all apps that I can't delete without "rooting" the phone).
Yeah, download Angry Birds. Tis bloody ace!
