Dead videos...

Is it possible that have others be able to help out like edit others' dead video embedded code? I think that 48 hours is too short and not everyone check e-mails every day, have time to find a replacement, etc.

We have been talking about a dead queue, where users could get a one post credit for posting a fix to a video, they wouldn't get any votes, but it would be a post towards their star level. This isn't on the height of our priority list, but it is coming eventually. I guess all I can say is please be patient, we are constantly working to upgrade the sift.

James: A queue list sounds good. Or maybe have it only restricted to high level active members. I really hate to see some good videos go byebye forever.

For example, my SNL landshark. What if I was gone (vacation) or something, then someone else needs to find to replace it.

Oh wait... I have to ..fix them... well thats not as easy. personally I think extending the fix period to 7 days is the right idea. And make it so reporting a dead video doesnt involve *dead and then siftbot response., or let me filter out certain siftbot invocations from my recent comments.

Even it you only get 48 hours though its part of the dynamic excitement, ups and downs, pros and cons, checks and balances make things exciting.

I agree... I just discovered I had past the 48 hour mark and now can't do anything. At least 7 days is reasonable, please. Also, allowing someone else to repost a code (the same way you can a tag line) would be wonderful! (Especially if they can't find the code but you can)

:-)

Not necessarily worthy of a whole post, but I wanted to announce that siftbot will now allow 7 days after flagged dead before a video is discarded. This is effective immediately for any/all dead videos including videos that may already have been tagged as 'ready to die in 48 hours' by siftbot.

Hopefully this will help everyone.
